Prime for powder hounds.
From the snow-caked slopes of Mt.Bachelor to the fluffy powder of the Tetons, The North Face NFZ Insulated Women's Pant acts as an impenetrable fortress against deep snow and freezing-cold temperatures. The Gore-Tex 2-layer membrane keeps you pleasantly dry through every imaginable wintry condition, ranging from waist-deep powder to soaking slush. PrimaLoft Silver insulation traps precious body heat, keeping you blissfully toasty when an Arctic front barrels down on your local mountain.
Chimney Venting works to quickly expel excess heat and perspiration, funneling cool, outside air through the boot's mesh upper gaiters and out of the zippered thigh vents. This is a great feature when cold mornings give way to sunny afternoons, helping to better regulate your body temperature on the mountain. Other convenient features include a water-resistant cargo pocket with phone holder, as well as adjustable waist tabs for a fine-tuned fit.

Sizing is wrong
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: XS
- Height: 5'8"
- Weight: 108lbs
I am a small/extra small in everything I own, and I could barely get the XS over my 31" hips. I concur with the other reviewers regarding fit.
- Height: 5'6"
- Weight: 145lbs
Okay, full disclosure. I just had a baby a few months ago and am in between sizes. I kept the large -- wish I hadn't -- but now I've lost a ton of inches and they are simply just too big.
Regardless of my shrinking size, the biggest fail of these pants is the length. Even for a large, they are just too long compared to the other TNF options.
I do love the added texture at the bottom which holds up to a lot of wear and tear.
Great Features, Horrible Sizing
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium & Large
- Height: 5'7"
- Weight: 145lbs
I wanted to love these pants, and they really seem to have great features. It is so hard to find women's pants with actual usable cargo pockets and decent waterproofing! BUT the North Face failed at their sizing options on these. I usually wear about a 30 (or size 8) but wanted some room for layers underneath. First I tried the Large and it was way too big. Even with a thicker base layer and the velcro sides all the way tightened, the waist was huge. The legs were also really extra baggy, and I'm someone who prefers somewhat baggy so I can move when I'm on the mountain. The length was a bit long, dragging on the floor in bare feet, but probably would have been OK for me with boots on since I have long legs. So I figured a Medium would be perfect, but it just presented the opposite problem. The waist and hips just barely fit with the velcro all expanded and no base layers. Sitting/bending down was barely tolerable and felt like I was going to rip them open the first time I had to strap into my bindings - I barely have hips and these were tight all the way to upper thighs. The rest of the legs were better width, but the length was probably about 3 inches shorter so they were already too short even with no shoes on.
The main take away is that these pants are packed with features and if they fit you, they will probably be amazing, but the sizing jump is HUGE from a medium to a large, and I really think TNF missed a big market of us average sized women that would have really liked to own these pants.
