Wanted to love it

I'm an elementary teacher and I was looking for a warm long coat for our northern Canada winters and recess supervision. The coat is nice and long (I'm 5'10") and the material is durable. However, the long puffer coat from the North Face I had before was much warmer. This hood doesn't stay up nicely and the wind blows through the snap holes that keep the fur on. It's more narrow in the shoulders and very wide on the bottom so wind would blow up the coat. Also, very disappointed that the colour faded very badly after 4-5 months worth of 15 minute supervisions - once a day, 5 times a week. The pockets are all still dark, under the hood and under the arms is dark and you can see where the fading is uneven all around.

A great purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this coat, but I couldn't give it a five star rating because of the fit in the hip area. This coat is not designed for women who have wide hips other than that the coat keeps me warm, repels the rain and overall a great purchase.

I would purchase a different style.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a waterproof/wind proof/warm jacket for winter, and this jacket fits the bill. I moved back north from Florida. This is a well made jacket, but on the bulky side, and I wish the hood was removable. The jacket is great for those extreme cold days, but too warm for those more moderate winter days. Will look for a 2 in 1 jacket.

Zipper broke

Had the jacket 2 months pocket zipper ripped I barely use it I wasn't stuffing things in my pockets either. Now, northface charges you to ship it to be repaired, so that will cost more than just fixing it locally. I have to fix a brand new jacket that I have barely worn. On that note it could be a warmer jacket, I use a different parka on -20 and colder days. I am small, bought a medium because I don't want it tight in the shoulders and my shoulders are more a medium size, so no issues there BUT I find cold air gets in underneath from the bottom, it's a very boxy fit, which is in style but not practical for keeping cold air our.

So Warm! Worth the Price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a warm winter coat with a double zipper. I purchased this one because of the great reviews and it was on sale, and it did not disappoint! This is the warmest and comfiest coat I have ever owned. I have other North Face jackets and have had North Face winter coats in the past but was hesitant spending so much on something seasonal. After wearing this coat just a few days I knew it was a great purchase and all of my buyer's remorse was gone. It feels a tad big/bulky, but I like that all the fill is on the inside of the coat so it has a smooth and sleek appearance on the outside. The parka length is great and blocks all of the wind. I really love all of the features, especially the pockets and sleeve thumb holes. I also love that North Face jackets have the 2-way zipper so I can easily sit and drive wearing the coat without worrying the zipper will separate. I am petite (5'0, 135lbs, curvy) and usually wear size medium. I purchased a medium. The sleeves are a tad long and the hem of the coat hits about 2 inches above my knee.

Nice but not for me

I was hoping to replace my parka this year because I outgrew my north face jacket I've had for over 5 years. I was wearing a medium and decided to get a large for better fit but the large in the outer back just doesn't fit nicely. I didn't get to use the product outside. I got it, tried it, it fits comfortable and warm, my only draw back is I didn't like the fit.

I would try and size down, boxy fit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The coat is very warm kept me cozy in a 4 degree day. There's no drawstring in the waist and doesn't have a very feminine cut because of that I would try and size down if you want a more snug fit.
