Cool backpack for the weekend warrior

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I do like this backpack the construction of it is very nice and pretty form fitting.
My one hesitation about it is that it doesn't have side pockets or slides to store water bottles. I'd say that it is a pretty nice business casual backapck, or a around town or running to class backpack. It definitely serves it purpose, but if you were looking to use it for running around in the mountains or hiking it is possible, but just not super practical without those side sleeves for water bottles.

    Great Go Bag

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this pack as a "go bag". I keep all my essentials in it so I can just grab it and go. It's well built and I feel confident that my laptop and other gear will be protected. It's just big enough for me to put a few extra things in it and use it as an emergency overnight bag in a pinch. Overall a very good back and I would definitely recommend it.

    Lightweight electronic gear pack

The North Face Microbyte Backpack is an excellent alternative to the big, bulky backpack frequently seen on the backs of students and business people. My MacBook Air fits perfectly in the laptop sleeve with more than enough room to fit a small gear bag (~4"x6"), folders, papers, etc. The pack also has 9 internal sleeves; great places to stash pens, business cards, USB's, sunglasses, keys: all the stuff that typically gets lost at the bottom of a backpack.
Because the pack is small, it's light. While you can carry everything you need, it won't fit everything you own. And that's a good thing...

      Nice small pack for class!

This is a great little pack for me, holds my surface pro, charger, a textbook, notebook, large calculator, and a bike lock. laptop pocket is fleece lined and has good protection. Nice organization with pen holders, mesh, and fleece lined pockets for your phone and a quick access pocket for sunglasses. It's only really good for one or two textbooks at a time but the 1037cu in capacity should tell you that.

I wish it had an external sleeve for my water bottle, even just a small one. That's the only reason I have for it not being a 5 star.

The ultimate slim city commuter backpack

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Since starting a new job in NYC, and having my neck/shoulder grow weary of my trusty messenger bag, I've been on the hunt for the perfect commuter laptop backpack. I've made a few mis-steps along the way, and purchased some more expensive, yet inferior packs. But I can confidently say that the North Face Microbyte is the best commuter bag I've ever used.

        My criteria:
•Must be SLIM. (Hold only the essentials)
        • Must be lightweight
        • Must be rugged
        • Must offer adequate protection for 15

        Just as described

Its a very good quality backpack. The backpack is tall but a little bit slimmer than I expected. It accommodates a mac pro 13 retina even with a protection shell, however no additional space for a mac sleeve. So its not possible to use with all three together (mac pro 13+shell+case). I was expecting something more smaller kinda compact but the bag does its job. Its excellent for ipad pro I can say perfect fit.
