Merino Wool Baselayer Zip-Neck Top

The Men’s Merino Wool Baselayer Zip-Neck Top is your companion for chilly shoulder-season hikes and for sliding under your puffy once winter is fully underway. As a natural property, this fabric doesn’t retain odors, so you can head straight from the trail into town without anyone noticing.
  • Athletic baselayer for shoulder-season activities
  • Merino wool is warm and breathable
  • Low-profile design slides easily under other layers

Great for serious workouts

This is a replacement of a prior North Face version I have had for six years. I am 6’0”, 170 lb, and ordered the large for good fit. I have paddled six 120 mile overnight ultramarathons in this. Our paddling cadence is about 70 spm and this 8oz wool is perfect overnight. I will wear it from about 3-7am. This is light and doesn’t overheat with high aerobic activity. Wear this for Winter running or layering. Another reviewer online said it was too thin... he didn’t do his research. You can see by the item description that the entire 1/4 zip is 8oz. It’s not a 2lb sweater... and that’s exactly why I am buying another! Great product.

Very comfortable. Good fit. I am 6'2" 200lbs and it fits very well. It has multiple tags that are hard to remove. Right where it stings you. That's my only complaint. Hard to remove without damaging the seams. Otherwise very comfortable. Pleasantly surprised about the absence of any scratching.

TNF hit a home run with this piece. If you have sensitive skin, this is for you: you won't realize it's wool next to your skin. I have tried many wool base layers, and this one is the most skin-friendly, by a comfortable margin. Generally good construction, nice detailing at thumbholes, perfect length in body and sleeves, overall fit for me is a "close drape;" not quite snug. Near perfect in all respects.
