Details

A relaxed fit and a loose cut through the butt, thighs, knees, and cuffs.

The Freedom Pant's relaxed fit puts a modern spin on The North Face's more traditional style. In addition to a modern look, the Freedom's loose fit allows for a full range of motion, so you can throw more modern style on your airs while you're at it.

In order to hold off storms and keep water from getting to your skin, the Freedom pant starts with a tough nylon shell and a waterproof breathable HyVent 2L laminate. The pant's Chimney Vent cooling system, which funnels air from the StretchVent gaiters to the inner thigh vents, keeps things comfortable once the sun comes out to heat things up. Not to be outdone in the storage space department, the Freedom pant comes with two hand pockets and a large cargo pocket on the right thigh. To finish things off, The North Face hooked the pant up with reinforced kickpatches and edge guards to protect the pant from sharp ski edges and muddy parking lots.

Hey, I wear a 36/34 jean, which fit a little loose in the hips and are slightly long. Would you recommend L/Reg for me?

I'm 6'1" 178 lbs and wear 32x32 or 33/32 dress pants and my jeans are usually 32x32 or 32x34. I own North face Freedom pants in Medium and they are perfect. I think the Large should be right for you. Even when looking at the size chart under the size selection drop down above indicates Large.

And don't forget Backcountry's easy return/exchange policy if you guess wrong. Hope that helps.

I wear a 33x30 pant, what size would you recommend for these?

Thanks!

I'm 6' tall 178lbs, my jean size is 32x34 and my dress pants are either 32x32 or 33x32. I own a medium Freedom pant and it's perfect, if anything maybe a little short. So medium should be perfect with a little extra length.

My jeans are 34x30, and the Medium - Short fit perfect. Unfortunately I don't see the short size here on backcountry at the moment. Regular length would probably be rather baggy when you're buckled in to your board/skis, especially with these being a more relaxed fit.

How waterproof / breathable are these? Can anyone compare them to another brand's pants?

I have had my gray freedom pants for several years now. I don't use them all the time but for the price they have stood the test of time very well.

There are other pants that have better waterproofing but always more money. You have to compare the waterproofing rating for any pants that you get but I can honestly say for the money these are top notch. Lightly insulated also which I love and then I have non insulated pants for the warm days. Breathability is hard for me to measure , especially being insulated. But they do have side or inseam zipper vents from what I remember.

I do have very expensive shell pants that I paid a hefty price for that I haven't been that impressed with. Definitely not worth at least double versus the freedom pant.

Size recommendation for the Northface Freedom Pant?

I'm 6'1" 178 lbs, my dress pants are 32-33waist and lengths are usually 32 but my jeans are all 34 long. I've always bought the medium in the freedom pant and worked perfectly. Hope that helps you.

I am a waist size 32 with a length of 31/32 depending on the style. Would you recommend the Small or the Medium?

I'm 6'2", I80 lbs and usually wear a size 33 pant. Should I go for a Large or a Medium here to have a little room to breath?

I would recommend the medium in The North Face Freedom Pant for you, and probably in the long length. The Freedom pant has a fairly relaxed fit, and with a 33 waist you should have an inch or so for sublayering or, as you say, for "a little breathing room."
