Make it easy to haul more than your share.
The Cobra 60 Backpack from The North Face can comfortably haul so much gear, your only problem will be convincing your buddies to take their fair share. An internal removable framesheet provides excellent support when you're taking on extended trips that call for a hefty load. The framesheet can be stripped off, along with the hip belt padding and top lid, to create a summit- or ski-pack for use on your trip. The Cordura outer fabric is extremely durable, which is great when you're staring at the potential to send you and your bag for a good ride.
To help store everything you need on your next expedition, The North Face added a variety of special pockets including a stowable helmet carry, an oversized crampon pocket, wand pockets, and hip belt pockets. Other storage options on this pack include an easy-to-use ski carry, sled drag clips, a tool loop on the hip belt, lash points, as well as a rope-carry system to keep the strands out of your way.

- Q & A
Plenty of space, confort and resistant
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Excellent product, it's everything I was expecting, it came in great conditions, packaging was perfect and it came on time, backpack
Is really comfortable and light. Material looks resistant something typical of The North Face products. I like the number of pockets and multiple access points to get at stuff in different parts of the bag. The ability to adjust its height on my back has been great. Really recommended!
Precision Fit and Comfort
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I have been hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail every weekend (literally) for the past two months with this pack. I have had a base pack weight of 15 - 20 pounds depending on weather. Consumables makes it around 25 - 30 pounds. I really liked the Al stays that I could bend to a precise fit on my back. This ensures that the comfort is great, and means that there can be less padding on the back panel which keeps overheating to a minimum. TNF really beefed up the hip belt panel over the old Prophet line and it is very comfortable. TNF design knows that the hip belt carries the brunt of the load so its padding is much thicker than the back panel padding. The shoulder straps have also been improved over the Prophet. I have never been uncomfortable carrying this pack. I really like that I leave the lid at home and just use the stylish rucksack flap on top as it was designed for. No other pack looks as good with the lid removed as this pack does. The volume is ample and the pack looks good compressed. I like the durable cordura fabrics and it shows no signs of wear. The wand pockets are not designed as typical side pockets, but I much prefer a streamlined alpine pack for trekking in any conditions and terrain anyway. Overall, this is a high quality pack that fits all criteria: intelligent design, adjustable comfort, streamlined profile, complementary colors, and durability.
I want to buy this pack but am concerned about the sizing. Are the straps very adjustable to the torso and waist?
Anyone have any opinions on this pack? Looking for something I can backpack with during the summer (anywhere from 2-5+ night trips), and something I can ski-tour with in the winter (1-3+ night trips). It looks like this would be a pretty good option, my concerns would be how comfortable the pack actually is for multiple days of carry. Thanks for any tips!
It is always a comfortable carry because: 1. I adjusted the aluminum stays to fit more precisely my torso, and 2. the hip belt padding and shoulder strap padding are a significant improvement over the previous Prophet line. It is really a great fit. I have a 20.5" torso, a 38" chest, and a 32" waist and the size L/XL is a perfect fit.
