    Chakal Pant

Epic powder days only come along so often, and if you're gonna ski bell-to-bell, you don't want your clothes holding you back. Well, thanks to The North Face's Chakal Pant you can shred on through the snowiest and coldest days of the season. Whether you're fighting your way through the wet and heavy stuff or floating through light and dreamy powder, you'll be totally dry thanks to the waterproof DryVent membrane. The Chakal also features a durable polyester fabric with a two-way stretch for unrestricted mobility as you float through knee-deep powder fields and bounce around gnarly bump runs.

When the thermostat freezes over and falls off, Heatseeker synthetic insulation keeps you nice and warm so you can stay out there lapping untouched snow. Build up a little bit too much heat attacking that tree run? That's no problem with The North Face's Chimney Venting system. The StretchVent gaiters do their job keeping the snow out, but also prevent heat from escaping through the bottom, so it can rise and release through the inner thigh vents, giving you a reliable and more effective ventilation system as you rip your way through another all-time day.

    • An insulated snow pant for those that rip and ride in any weather
    • DryVent waterproof membrane protects you on heavy powder days
    • Heatseeker insulation offers low-bulk warmth for the coldest days
    • Two-way stretch fabric ensures that you've got unrestricted motion
    • Chimney Venting system channels heat towards the inner thigh vents
    • Stretch ankle gaiters prevent snow from sneaking in on deep days
    • Adjustable waist tabs help you find your perfect fit
    • Two sets of pockets offer storage for trail maps and lift snacks
    • Item #TNF03IT

    Ski Season!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

The fit and quality of these pants are great! I ordered my dad the Beech Green color, thinking they would be tan like the picture. They are more of an olive green color rather than tan. He loved them the first time he wore them. They are a little roomy in the legs, but great for skiing and snowmobiling.

    Larger Than Expected

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 220lbs

Really liked the look and feel of the pants. Unfortunately the XL were too loose in the waste and too long, so I had to return them. Replacement size was not available. Bummer.

Great snow pant with long inseam options

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large Long
    • Height: 6'4"

I purchased this item as an xmas gift for my cousin. We ended up needing to exchange as I purchased a color that was a little too visible on the mountain for his liking (the red is very bright). I ended up switching the Red for a Light Grey and it is perfect. At 6'4 with a 34 inch inseam, he has a really hard time finding ski pants that fit properly as most have a standard 32 inseam. It is hard to find, but TNF made it happen. The Large long fit perfectly and these are comfy, offer plenty of stretch for movement, light weight but durable, well constructed, and overall a great purchase. While not quite as visible as he originally requested, these should work well for the next few ski seasons to come.

good pants. thinking about an additional

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I've worn this once. I wish they were a little longer, but other than that, they really do the job. well made. warm. flexible. I really like them.

Great pants! Would buy them again.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium Short
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Im almost 60, generally hot natured and I’m short. I’ve worn a few different types of pants over the years. I look for thin pants, with a short inseam. Hard to find. North Face is one of the few. These pants hit a sweet spot. Lightly insulated hard shell that kept me warm on the lifts but cool in the runs. Add a base layer pant if colder or just the pants on warmer days or harder activities (back country). Shorter inseam doesn’t bunch up the legs so they don’t rub or get in the way and adjustable waist band to quickly tighten it loosen. Vents on inside of the thighs get the job done. Gaiters keep snow out of pants legs.

Adding some vents to the outside of the thighs would really be sweet and adding zippers to the pant legs/gaiters would be nice ( hint, hint). But I’m not complaining.

Fit, usefulness and price can’t be beat. I’d buy another pair.

    For the price and fit

    Great Pants, would purchase again

These pants were constantly exposed to snow and rain for hours in the Swiss Alps without ever making me cold or wet!!!!! Loved the lining and all the pockets! Vents came in handy when inside. It was too cold outside to even consider this. Winner all day!

    Awesome Pant!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium Short
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 170lbs

Bought these for snowboarding. Great fit, just enough room for plenty of movement without being too baggy. 5"8 170 and the Medium Short is a perfect fit.

Good to hear Daniel. I have the same proportions and find the Freedom pant too baggy. I ended up exchanging the med. short for a small short and had a piece of 1000 cordura v-stitched into the waist by a local seamstress. I think NF advertised the Chakal pant as a slim fit. It actually looks like it's less baggy so a med. short probably fits like it's supposed to.

    Nice pants

As a short guy it’s hard to find options for short pants. I’d been able to find black ones but other colors weren’t available. These are decent pants for the price. While they are insulated they are vented and while I usually ski in shell stuff these are fine.
