The thermal qualities of this sweater remind me of the treasured cotton thermals from decades ago. The waffle knit is much larger than the old style, and when it is washed it will draw up and create that thick, soft cotton insulator layer or stand-alone cotton sweater of days gone by. It is what drew me to this sweater in the first place. The downside of the sweater is that the neckline is quite a bit looser than what I would like for an insulation layer, because, for me, warmth is the point. That being said, I enjoy wearing this sweater with a scarf, and the large waffle makes me feel a bit more stylish than if I were wearing long Johns. I returned the ochre color (a bit bright), but I wear the cream weekly when it?s chilly. The fit is regular, but allow for some normal shrinkage since it is 100% cotton. Take a chance!
