Don't let the cat out of the bag.
The North Face's lightest and most compressible synthetic bag for backpacking in damp conditions, the 20 Degree Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag is a favorite for those who really value a good night's sleep in the backcountry. Stuffed with Heatseeker Pro insulation and wrapped around with a Cyclone construction, this bag maximizes your warmth through its compressible, vertical baffles, and maintains a lightweight, compressible design to reduce the weight you're hauling on your back. The shaped hood and draft tube help this mummy bag keep cold, piercing gusts at bay, and the pad retainer loops attach to your sleeping pad to prevent you from being tossed onto the unwelcoming cold ground. And when morning comes and it's time to break up camp, the included compression and storage sack helps carry your bag while saving space in your pack.

This is an awesome Synthetic bag option for eco or animal-friendly folk! Also saves a little money compared to a North Face down bag of a similar temperature rating. This bag is light and compresses really nicely. The Vertical baffles help the bag to be really nice straight out of the stuff sack. This is a great option for both camping and summer backpacking, as it is a very light bag. I always recommend a sleeping pad as they help to retain warmth. This bag goes great with a NEMO Tensor.

Meow
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
"The North Face Cat's Meow sleeping bag is a fantastic choice for anyone that needs an extremely warm bag that doesn't weigh too much and won't break the bank. This bag is great for both camping and backpacking weighing just over two pounds. The Heatseeker Pro insulation allows the bag to dry four times faster when compared to treated "water-resistant" down; making it a great choice for inclement weather situations. Very durable and reliable, the North Face Cat's Meow sleeping bag is sure to improve your camping and backpacking experiences. I highly recommend this bag! "

10 years old and still warm
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I this sleeping bag 10 years ago and it is still my go-to bag. I used it all throughout college when my roommates and I were too stingy to turn the heat up. I've used this in the desert, on the coast, in the mountains, and down into the single digits. Over time it has lost some of its warmth, but not enough to leave it at home, I still drag it with me wherever I go. The zipper pull broke off at one point, quickly set up a case with TNF and they fixed it for free within a couple weeks and sent it back! After a few years, I recommended a newer version to my brother and a friend, they both love it as well!

love this bag
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I personally own an older model of this bad and love it! Totally would recommend it. It's hiked the Prezi with me, gone to the desert, and still performs like new. I unfortunately had to return this one since it was a gift and the person ended up not needing it.

Purr like a kitten
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This is a great bag for those cold nights under the stars. You won't be disappointed if you are always cold when you are camping. The hood on this bag hugs your head like a nice warm hug and cinches closed if you only want your nose to poke out. I found that the zipper is a tad too short. I am 5'11 and it can be a bit of a struggle to get out of the bag in the morning. Stuffs great into the included stuff sack and is super lightweight. Packed great on my recent 16 mile backpacking trip with night temps in the 30's. If you're looking for a great bag to stay warm and comfy, I would highly recommend the Cat's Meow.

Perfect

This sleeping bag is amazing! It packs really well with the built in compression sack and is relatively light for how warm it is! I combined this along with the Klymit V-Static Sleeping Pad and was as snug as a bug in a rug while in the Wind River Range in early September. I tell everyone how much i love this bag!

So warm and yet so light
As a backpacker/cyclist, I value a good nights sleep more than anything, and for that reason I decided it might be time to take my sleep system to the next level. The bag weighs so little and packs down so small, that I was able to use the extra space I saved for more important things for backpacking. (Extra tube, CO2, tire levers, etc.) It was so warm and comfortable that I could spend my nights dreaming about bikes, instead of shivering all night long, waiting for sunrise. When it comes to multi-day trips through the Wasatch, a good nights sleep is essential and it doesnât have to come at the cost of a lightweight sleeping bag.

Great Bag For The Price
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This bag definitely doesn't pack down as small and isn't as light as a quality down bag. But if your looking to save some money or want a bag that performs well when wet It this this is probably the best synthetic bag you can get. Its quite comfortable and seems quite well made. I found it to be plenty warm down to freezing. The material is quite thin and I did notice I had to be careful while zipping it to prevent snags. But it seems to have the fabric reinforced in reasonable locations. I look forward to giving it a further shake down later this summer.

What size would you recommend for a man that is 6' 4". I'm thinking extra long but I want to make sure. What is the sizing of the extra long and long? Thanks!

I am trying to decide between this bag and the women's version. I'm 5'8", 170 lbs. My main concern is what seems to be a rather large weight difference between the two versions of this bag, as well as the price bump for the women's bag. I assume that I should be comparing the regular size men's bag to the long women's bag. What are the weight/size/insulation differences between these two? Are there other differences I should know about? I sleep cold, are there relevant differences in the way men's/women's bags are rated for temperature? I think I heard that at one point but have no idea if that is accurate. Thank you!

Hey Eliza! Women's sleeping bags will have more insulation than Mens/Unisex bags. For the average woman, if using a mens bag, you'd want to add about 10F to the temp rating. The Men's Reg (good up to 6') is 2 Lbs 4 Oz. The Women's Long (good up to 6') is 2 Lbs 13 Oz. The woman's bag has more insulation, which is the reason for the weight/price difference. Other than that, they're the same!
