I've used the Brigandine Futurelight jacket on a couple trips (one backpacking and one skiing) and have enjoyed it a lot so far! The first trip I took was for a solo backpacking trip up Mt Timpanogos before the snow fall, and the second was just to do a little afternoon ski session with some friends the weekend after. I like the jacket a lot because of it's aesthetic and design. There's a lot of room to move around, the high cowl kept my face protected from the wind, and it's still a very breathable layer. I used it while trekking across a snowfield in crampons, at the summit of Timp, and boot packing and skiing fresh fall powder. By itself, the jacket is pretty spacious, but with a baselayer and a mid layer, it fits perfectly. I also enjoy the longer length that covers your butt when sitting! There's a ton of handy pockets and loops on the jacket, particularly the radio pocket at the collar. I didn't make use of it this time around, but it will definitely come in handy for future backcountry ski excursions where we'll be using radios! Lastly, I like how sturdy the jacket material feels. My other backcountry shell is made with a softer, stretchier, material which feels slightly more maneuverable, but less durable. I'm not worried about scrambling up rocks or brushing against trees with this jacket.
