Base Camp 50L Duffel
Going out of town for the weekend doesn't mean that you should settle for luggage that's going to fall apart on you. With The North Face's Base Camp 50L Duffel, your luggage will be able to survive the roughest roof-top hail, the rowdiest airline luggage movers, and the hottest, windiest motorcycle rides. Big enough to hold all your essentials for a quick overnight multi-pitch or weekend away at the fam's house, the Base Camp 50L compresses and organizes so that you can optimize your space and bring everything you need. This bag even comes with weighted, padded haul handles on the sides so strapping it to a yak, a car, or a rigging system isn't a problem. Plus, the four compression straps will make all your gear not seem like so much, so you can bring what your heart desires.

Best!

Basically the best bag you can buy. Material is on the bulky, stiff side. Very durable. The straps are a bit hard to remove and put back. But overall it's a great bag. I have several.

COMPACT & RUGGED

My husband and I both have these bags (i have this one (50L) and he has the 95L) This bag (50L) is the perfect size for a weekend (3 days clothes, pajamas, swimsuit, including your shoes) - Carry on acceptable. I really like the material, it will definitely hold up to abuse. Seems to be very watertight as well and will last many years to come.

Perfect Size

I believe this is the best outdoor duffel on the market! It has a pocket, is durable, weather resistant, and is fairly comfy as a backpack. You can toss it around and feel comfortable that you are not ruining anything. I have 2 different sizes for different uses. The 50 is a good everything size!

I still have my original 50L from almost 16 years ago, that was a hand-me-down from my older sister! It has traveled the world and is still in great shape!

Carry On
The duffel was a bit stiff upon initial use, but has since loosened up. This the perfect size for trips; big enough to hold all my gear and small enough to fit in the overhead compartment of a plane. Wish there was one additional pocket on the inside to keep small items separated from the big compartment.

Cute
Cute and does the job., 50L is perfect for an overhead compartment and I think the quality seems OK. I use this as a back up bag for traveling if I can't fit all my supplies in my Patagonia Blackhole 90L

Love this bag. Super stylish and well built. Used this as a carry on bag on a trip to Europe and this bag fit a lot and yet still small enough to be a backpack and carry on bag. Highly recommend.

Lack of a normal strap is annoying
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Material is great and a cool style, but the lack of a normal duffel strap is super annoying. This makes swinging it over one shoulder awkward as the bag will not sit upright. To grab it off the ground and keep it level, you need to grab both shoulder straps at the same time, and they're 3 to 4 inches wide. A normal strap down the middle would be great. I'll investigate returning it, as other North Face designs or different brands have it.

Sick.

This duffel is great as a carry on and perfect for road trips. It is compact but provides enough room for essentials and some very convenient pockets. The bags also give you +100 swag points

The 50L bag has an amazing amount of space in it. It even comes with its own bag to help for easy storage in your closet.

Wish someone would produce a short video on how to re-fold it to get it back into the mesh bag

Did NF include the zippers with interlocking holes for a small padlock again? I miss the old style zippers that had that feature.

You can carry the 71L size past the gate attendant and onto the plane if you don't overstuff it. And the 71L size has a nifty side compartment.
