    Awesome parka! Great fit..

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'2"
    • Weight: 115lbs

I was looking for a stylish yet warm parka to wear to work on snowy days. This coat was recommended by one of the associates on the online chat and they were so right. I originally ordered my usual XS which turned out a tad snug on the chest. I called Backcountry and they sent me a size S the same day, even let me return the first one for free. I really like this coat. It is extremely warm and the dark grey color is perfect. The coat is super warm and very comfortable. It's very slim cut so it looks good on me, unlike some other parkas I tried on. The only complaint I have is its slightly uncomfortable at the neck (pokes) when I sit with the coat fully zipped up, but nothing that pulling the zip down can't resolve. Overall, I'm super happy with the coat and super happy with Backcountry customer service (who by the way gave me excellent recommendations on boots).

    Perfect for NYC winters

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought this for my sister who lives in NYC. She was looking for a slimmer longer fitting parka and this worked out great. She loves the way it looks.

    Warm, Long, and Classy!!

I bought this for my mother and she loved the look and the length but it was a little bit too small since it's a slim fit.

    Warm

Great parka. It is meant or cold weather. It is very warm (which is generally what I want for a down parka). The fit is cute and flattering. Fits true to size. If you want a good, warm parka for the cold winter days, this jacket is timeless and you will have it for a while. Great purchase.

    Warm stylish coat

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought this to wear in January in Iceland. This coat was awesome at keeping me warm and dry. I am 5'6, 135lb and went with a small. The medium fit as well but just looked a touch bulkier. I wore a base layer and a mid-weight layer on top underneath this coat and in temps down to -15F and windy I felt warm. This coat has nice zippered pockets and a hidden pocket next to the main zipper as well. Reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that it definitely sheds down and my fleece tops would be covered in feathers after wearing the coat. If it didn't shed so much it definitely would be a 5 star parka.

    Nice Jacket

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS

This is a very nice jacket. I did end up returning it because I wanted more of a 'box weave' outside. This simply has a military type plain design. Other North Face Jackets have the down squares which is the look I was after. Other than that, it is a great jacket that is very flattering and warm. The arms were not too short and it fit great - true to size of other jackets.

    good!

The North Face Artic Down Parka II is surprisingly lightweight and so warm. I was afraid to get it because I'm a 0P, 5' 2" and I usually order petite sizes only.

Received dirty coat with no tags?

Loved the jacket when I ordered an XS but it was a bit too tight so I returned and got a size S instead. The XS I originally had was nicely packaged, smelled new, and had the tags on it. The size S I received has someone else’s hair stuck all over it (long hair, not from the fur hood), dust, and no tags?! Oh, but thank goodness they stuck a Hello Fresh coupon in there. Seriously think I got someone’s old, used coat but at this point I’m not paying to return it.

I saw this coat on a whim online once, not really interested in purchasing a parka. I was looking for a formal winter coat that I could wear for events and such. The problem with formal winter coats (wool, etc.) is that they are often thin and you sacrifice warmth for fashion.

However, the more I looked at this jacket, the more I liked it's features: the warmth, the length, and the form-flattering cut. I decided to buy this jacket instead of a formal jacket that I would likely be freezing in, considering I live in Minnesota. I also lucked out that my local TNF store had a return in my size that I was able to try on and I fell in love.

I got this jacket in the medium heather grey, which has a fine herringbone print. I am 5'4" and the jacket hits just above my knees. The depth of the hood was good and I like that it is removable. The jacket has hand warmer pockets. They're not very deep so don't expect to be able to keep many items in them. Other than the hand pockets, I didn't notice any other pockets on this jacket, which may be part of the reason it has a more feminine silhouette. I normally wear a medium but in winter coats I always go a size up for comfort, hence I purchased a large. I own another TNF ski jacket and have noticed that TNF items tend to run small, even more reason to purchase a size up. With the large I feel comfortable and am able to fit a sweater inside if needed. The jacket fits well in all areas of my body and is very flattering, which not many winter coats can boast.

I received the jacket about a week ago and have loved it ever since. I have only worn this jacket twice so far, once being at night in 3 deg. F weather with windchill. It kept me very warm in that chilly weather, despite me having one thin layer on for a party. I was very happy with the length as it kept my legs warm.

Overall the jacket is stylish and very warm. And with the discount you can get as a new customer, it was totally worth it purchasing this jacket at Backcountry.

But when I found Backcountry I was so ecstatic that they had it at a lower price and in XS. It fits above my knees and its fitted around the waist, not tight tough. There is room for extra sweater if you really need it. The sleeves are a tad long but not too much where I can't see my hands, it sits just right by the knuckle on your thumbs. When I lift my arms the sleeves touch the wrist. The hoodie fits perfect and I'm so pleased it can be removed and the fur is so pretty and soft.

This coat is the perfect length, warmth and designed. Bought for my 28 year old daughter who is finicky. She’d wanted a Canada Goose but after reading its reviews which lamented the quality, I chose this coat.
      Worth every penny!

I bought this jacket as a gift for my sister and she can't stop raving about it. She said it is true to size. Very thick and warm and the length is perfect and it blocks out the wind. She wore it outside for hours and stayed warm the whole time.

      Great, warm winter coat!

I got this coat one week ago and I am in love with it!! It is by far the warmest coat I have ever owned. It’s as stylish as a parka can be ;). It’s warm and wind proof and I have been happily wearing it in Cleveland , with below freezing temperatures. It’s a bit pricey, but so far.. worth every dollar.

The only thing I don’t love is that it is longer then I wanted in a coat. I am 5’5” and comes down to my knees .

I bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas and she loves it. She doesn't go anywhere without it. It is so warm. She usually just wears a t-shirt underneath and still stays toasty.

      For the money, steal

I own a Fall15 version of this parka. The pros: great color selection; love that about TNF. Pricepoint; HUGE bang for your buck compared to other brands! It's super warm (I live in northern NH) and I've spend many hours in freezing temps standing on the playground in this & it's kept me warm. Length is great, love the sleeve cuffs. I got a medium, which is my normal size in athletic coats (sometimes a small on top). Love the insulation in the hood.

The cons: the hood is shallow; doesn't block wind or rain as well as others I've tried (Patagonia Tres has a bomber hood, but it's not insulated....). The zipper should be slightly longer- it's tough to zip up where it hits me.

For the money, though, this parka rocks. Highly recommend.

      Love it!

I researched a bit to find a warm parka that was flattering and this is it! I was unsure of the size and ended up ordering a small - it is perfect! I am 5' 8" and 140. I don't plan on wearing alot of layer but there is enough room. I've gotten many compliments on it while out and about. Bought in the dark gray and love the subtle herringbone pattern.

      My wife loves this coat

This is an amazing coat for the winter. My wife says it keeps her extremely warm when walking around campus. She enjoys the length and the double zipper. The hood is also very nice. The color (green) is also a nice color.

I just got this parka in green and I wore it in 17 F temperatures with just a light sweater underneath. I was very warm and cozy. It's long enough for me right above my knee, flattering shape and really comfortable. I love the hood too. I haven't tested it in a snow storm yet but I'm sure it will be fine, as it's waterproof. Thanks to my very patient and helpful customer service rep, Suzy W., for all your help in helping me pick a parka that fit all my needs.
