I love these pants!

  • Fit: True to size

What I love most about these pants is that they are versatile...they could be worn casually at work (either rolled up for a summery look, or down), or function as field pants. I bought these pants in a size 8 (I'm around 5' and weigh about 144lbs) and they fit perfect. They are flattering through the legs and the material fits nicely up through the thighs and butt. I have a bubble butt and often times pants don't fit right when I bend over or crouch down (a little peep show if you know what I mean!)...not these. They stay on, above the butt, for everything and still look good. They do have a form-fitting fit, so don't expect them to be loose like some of the other North Face field pants, but I'd say they're true to size

Do-anything pants

Arches pants shown in the front, these pants will take you anywhere! Fit true to size, size 6-short fit my 5'2" gymnast thighs like a glove. Roll them up to climb or do yoga in a waterfall, unroll them to keep you protected from that unruly poison ivy!

Awesome climbing pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is my second pair - bought the black first and had to order the brown too because I love them that much :) Flattering fit, durable, lightweight, and a little stretch (great for high-stepping) make them the perfect climbing pant. These have been put to the test in Indian Creek and all over the Colorado Front Range and still look great.

My favorite hiking/travel pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These pants are a very flattering fit and so comfortable.

They are quick drying so I was able to hand wash and line dry them while backpacking through Ecuador.

They were breathable enough for me to wear hiking through the Amazon rain forest and on the Na'Pali trail (warm/hot and humid).

They do stretch out for me in the waist, hips, seat, and thigh after a long day of wear or hiking though.

Still my favorite hiking pants, wish they came in more colors.

Great product!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these pants for hiking and absolutely love it! It's stretchy and very comfortable. You can even wear a base layer for colder climate. True to size. I'm 5'2", weigh 116 lbs and the size 4 fits great, a little loose on the waste but I don't mind it. I got my sister a pair as well as she fell in love with mine. She is 5'0 and weights 110 lbs.

My favorite pants

I have these pants in both black and brown. They are the most comfortable, durable pants I've ever had. I wore the black pair for 12 days backpacking. They still looked good when I came off the trail. No knee or seat bagging. Water beads on them instead of wetting through. Just wish they came in more colors.

Great pants

I bought these pants based on the first reviewer's comments, and I agree 100%. They are very comfortable with a moderately stretchy fabric and fit nicely. They run true to size. I am 5'8" and 130 pounds and size 6 (my usual size) is just right. The waistband closes flat, and I think they are cute and flattering (even on an older lady!) especially rolled up. I bought the black and am back to order the brown.

    Great pants

Have been looking for a pair of black pants because I need them for work! it is hard to find a decent pair of black pants anymore. These look like they will hold up! The ones I have look shabby and lose their shape as the night moves along.

Awesome pants for all outdoor activities!

Love these pants! I don't buy a lot of North Face stuff, but my mom has a pair of these and I kept stealing them from her ;) Not only are they functional, they look really cute and stylish, as they are cut really nicely. They are form fitted but not too tight, and the leg is cut straight-skinny (ie there is no flair or annoying extra fabric, but it's not tight around the ankle. Fits nicely around the bum, and it's cut high so you're not flashing anyone but it's not too high to be unfashionable. They have a reasonable amount of stretch while you are wearing them. They seem to fit true to size. Rolling them up is easy. When rolled, they hit a bit below my knee. I've gotten a ton of compliments on them, even from some strangers asking where I got them! I've worn them hiking and golfing so far, and I think they would be good for climbing too. The material is nice and light, but they don't feel flimsy. Great pant!

The Brown looks pretty dark? Is this the case...was hoping for something a bit lighter in color. AND do these stretch out much after wearing them for days in a row (climbing trip & extended backpack trips)? Thanks

The color selection for this pant is a dark khaki, almost grey. I like the color, it has a sort of "professional" appearance to it. As far at the stretching out goes, these pants have an elastic waistline, so they will keep their shape about the hips, and wont fall down after extensive wear. However, the buttock, and knee areas after many days will be a touch on the loose side. The material they are made from is mostly nylon with a bit of elastane, which will be durable, and retain it's shape pretty well!
