Made for rainy winters.
Oregonians and Washingtonians experience winter with cold, rainy days, and that is why they never leave the house without the Apex Flex GTX 2.0 Jacket by The North Face. Compared to your old, squeaky yellow rain coat, the Apex Flex is made with three-layer Gore-Tex for protection against rain and wind, and with a stretch-woven construction that allows you to bike through Portland and hike about the Cascades. At the peak of the rain, cinch down the hood and hem for secure protection. And when the clouds break for just a moment, zip down the underarm vents and enjoy the dry air while it lasts.

Solid and Reliable

This jacket is fashionable and versatile. Great for keeping dry and toasty on those wet and windy days.
Taped and sealed seams make for a wind and watertight fit. Like being protected by a fabric version of Thompsons deck seal. Stay dry with confidence.
A little stiff under the armpits, but loosens up with wear.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Awesome softshell that is pretty durable and weather proof. Gore-Tex ensures waterproof/breathable comfort. Definitely more of a spring/fall jacket. Works as a winter shell but a little snug for layering more than a fleece underneath. Definitely a trim fit. If you plan to layer underneath this jacket definitely size up, but it remains true to The North Face's sizing.
I live in Bogota, Colombia. In this part of the world we are not able to know how is the weather going to be tomorrow or even today. Due to its proximity to Ecuador, we donât have seasons at all. Most of the time we have rainy weather. Even though this jacket is expensive, it keeps me warm and rainy days are no longer a problem to me. Do really recommend it.

This is not the warmest jacket in the world but it does what its made for! It's waterproofing held up under a waterfall for 15 seconds. I could feel a little bit of water come through but I mean come on, thousands of pounds of water were falling on my shoulders so I think that was a pretty good test! I think this would be a great jacket for active use. If you are walking around town and it is frigid you might have problems!
Keep the awesomeness coming North face
Sleeves way too long
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I had to return this jacket as the sleeves were disproportionately long for the size. I've never had issues with TNF sleeves lengths until now. Like other reviewers said, the sleeves came past my knuckles. Don't know what TNF were thinking with these measurements.
What’s the difference between this and the regular Flex GTX?
This jacket is slightly heavier at 1lb 11oz vs. the 1lb 8 oz of the regular Flex GTX. The 2.0 also has a soft, stretch face fabric, so will feel like a softshell instead of the classic plastic feel of rain wear, while still retaining the waterproofing that the 3 layer Gore-Tex membrane provides. In short, this will move a bit better and be quieter than the Regular one. Besides that the jackets are very similar. Hope this helps!
