Decent alternative to Maxxis

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only put a few rides on them but I have read such good reviews from notable cycling blogs and websites that I'm sure they will stand up over time. Upon first look they strike a remarkable resemblance to another very popular MTB tire (the Maxxis DHF). Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Maybe both? The good thing is that the DHF are one of my all time favorite tires and these Kessels seem like they are even chunkier and grippier in certain types of terrain. The bad? Well the price is pretty much the same and with tires you usually want to go with the more notable, reliable and quality controlled option (in this case the Maxxis brand). That being said, I think these will be a great tire and I like the sizing and availability right now in the gumwall 2.5s. Yes they may be somewhat of a "knockoff" but they are a super high quality one and I think it can't hurt to have a healthy competition in the tire marketplace, considering Maxxis pretty much has a monopoly on the MTB tire game. Excited to put more miles on these and see how they compare to my tried and true DHFs.
