Tough as nails for off-road adventures.
Destined for forest roads and desolate deserts, the Autana Ruggedized Tent is the burliest rooftop tent available on the market today. Reinforced for off-road adventures, the Autana Ruggedized Tent stands up to thrashings from washboard roads and flinging debris when you're driving across the desert. Tepui employs heavier 360-gram canvas fabric for the tent canopy alongside raw aluminum base panels that ward off rock strikes and dings on the road. Additional reinforcements include robust 3-bolt hinges and a heavier gauge internal frame that withstands countless excursions.
Apart from the tent's ruggedized build, it's home to all the standard features of Tepui tents. It folds open for quick, easy pitching once you reach your overnight destination, and access is made simple with the included telescoping ladder. It comes with a fully enclosed annex that's great for storing excess gear and footwear. Inside the tent, you'll find a high-density foam mattress for a luxurious sleeping experience without having to inflate a flimsy air mattress or paper-thin sleeping pad. Moreover, you'll find large storage pockets for gear and closable mesh windows for ventilation.

Camping? Alpaca tent!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I'd tried a couple of different roof mounted tents before decided on the Autana. Two from Tepui, and one from Yakima lead me down the road to this monster, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's the most versatile, yet most secure tent Tepui offers. If you're even CONSIDERING buying the annex down the road, just do yourself a favor and grab this model. The annex and flooring are included with the tent. The rainfly comes off INCREDIBLY easy to ensure your nights can be filled with amazing views, and the protection it has in a storm is like nothing else I've used in the past. The annex was great to house the pup and gear during a rain we found ourselves in, and it all packs up incredibly easily. It mounted to my truck rack incredible easily, andthe same with the car we have.
Subaru - If you are using factory rails most roof top tents are too heavy. We have a Subaru Crosstrek, and needed to replace the factory rails due to the tent being too heavy before anyone was even in it. Using the factory rails will result in an eventual crack or break, and could cause the tent to come off during transport.
Truck Rack: Using the Thule XSporter bed rack system, the tent works famously. You WILL need to buy aftermarket bolts for the tent, as the stock bolts are not long enough to accommodate the thickness of the crossbar for the bed rack.

Amazing tent but huge and heavy
This tent is bombproof. Great quality, thick materials and hardware, but your gas mileage will pay for it if you have it mounted on top of your vehicle. It's also very difficult to take on and off a vehicle without a pulley system because it weighs almost 200 lbs. However, the Autana is awesome! Massive interior with wall to wall memory foam, huge windows everywhere (including the ceiling for stargazing), quick to pitch and put away, easy to keep clean because it's off the ground, and great quality materials and construction.

Awesome Tent! Worth the investment.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Great tent for desert camping with kids. On our last camping trip we had mud for two days. It was nice to quickly setup the tent and not have to worry about all the dirt and mud getting into the tent.
With the 3 person tent we still have enough room on the 4Runner using a full-sized rack to place items that we may like while in the tent; we just reach out the window and grab the items. The 4 person tent would have used 100% of the full rack. The annex is a nice addition, making it possible for two adults, three kids (two teenagers), and a medium dog to camp comfortably. We bought the ruggedized tent because the kids can be hard on our gear; so far this tent is holding up to the abuse. We are satisfied with the quality and durability.
With the weight of the tent at 195 lbs and upto 3 people and gear total weight could reach 1000 lbs. Is this normal to have this much weight on a roof top rack?
