    Ready to rip.

Tecnica's Mach1 130 MV Men's Ski Boot isn't the tightest-fitting boot on the market. It has a medium volume and the 100mm last is made for wider feet but it's still designed to rip. The 130 flex offers the performance you want on technical terrain and the ratcheting power strap and micro-adjustable buckles lock the shell and cuff down solidly against the liner so you won't have to suffer slop just to enjoy killer performance. The Mach1 also sports Tecnica's Asymmetric Power Transmission. The inside of the shell is slightly stiffer than the outside giving you elevated edge grip and a faster and more controlled edge to edge transition.

You won't have to fight through pain, either, because Tecnica designed the Mach1 to have the best fit out-of-the-box. For exceptional fit and comfort they're also customizable. It features a Custom Adaptive Shape Ultrafit Pro Race liner that can be heat molded for serious personalization, along with a C.A.S. shell that is anatomically designed to match the shape of the foot and the liner.

    • Medium volume boot for comfort and performance on the slopes
    • CAS liner and shell provide an excellent out-of-the box fit
    • Shell is preshaped to match the anatomy of liner for better fit
    • Preshaped liner matches anatomy of the foot for day long comfort

    • 130 flex offers performance for heavier or more advanced riders
    • Asymmetric power transmission offers increased edge grip

    Wonderful Fit, Performance TBD

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It was time for some new boots and my bootfitter suggested the Mach1 130 MV or Lange RX 130. Thanks to my hobbit feet, low volume boots are a no go and even boots in my measured mondo size require extensive boot work. The Mach1 was no exception but the out of the box fit was closer than almost any other boot I have tried on and, though I'm not a bootfitter, I've been told its well easy to work with. The fit was, for me, less roomy than the Lange RX 130 (in a good way), and the liner felt nicer. This boot is also extremely easy to get in and out of. Though I'll most likely still swap it out for Booster straps, the stock ratcheting power strap is much better than the usual velcro job on boots.
I haven't skied it yet, and will update when I do, but in my opinion at the upper end of recreational boots, there's not huge variations in performance anyways.

Skis well, but too much snow gets inside

The good: this boot skis great. I switched from the Lange RX 130 because I got a great deal on the Tecnica's, and the Tecnica's performance is on par with the RX 130 for sure. That said, the Tecnica is definitely tighter over the instep, which might make it too much of a squeeze for some people. On the plus side, the Tecnica felt tighter in the calf area, which definitely benefited my skinny legs.

The bad: I have a very low volume foot, yet the overlap on the bottom two buckles area of the shell is so slight that lots of snow gets in there. As it melts throughout the day, the boot liner gets soaking wet in the entire toe area. On cold days, this really sucks. Over time, I'm sure the boots will start to smell unless I religiously remove the liners to dry out after each day of use. Despite how well the boots ski, this will be a pain every single day I own them, so I've gotta deduct two stars at least. Going back the RX130 after this for sure.
