Online, there are 5 different versions of the same thru-axle shown in the picture. In the drop down for ordering, there are only 4. The descriptions for each of these 4 in the drop down window completely omit descriptive information on thread type, and there is no additional information anywhere on the product page. Only a couple of thru-axle examples in the drop down menu bother to mention length. This posed a significant barrier to figuring out which one I needed. Though they tried, even the Gear Geeks were unable to provide the necessary information. This resulted in having to send the product back and ordering replacements three times before finally getting it right. As for the product itself, it hasn't been officially long term tested yet. However, one thing that has been noted is that it fits so tightly into the clamping mechanism on my TacX Vortex wheel-on trainer that it was necessary to dismantle one side of the clamping mechanism to get the back wheel into position. It won't even be possible to tighten the clamp down. Fortunately, this is a trike, not a bike, so the issue has no bearing on balance.

Hi Lance, I too have a Vortex. Looking for a through axle to put my new Canyon road bike with disk brakes on the trainer. I have been using the trainer for years with a bike with regular clincher brakes, but want to be able to use the new bike on the trainer as well. Any idea what size I’d need?

Will any of this work on a Boost 148x12 bike? The web page mentions a lot of 142x12 and even a 150x12, but no a 148x12 alternative.
