    Lightweight comfort on the trails.

Syncros has embraced mountain biking since before it was cool, and the brand builds solid, dependable components specifically for the dirt-loving set. Weighing in at a claimed 170g, the XR1.0 Carbon Saddle is a race-ready example of Syncros' mountain bike acumen. It uses 7 x 9mm carbon rails to absorb trail vibrations and shock to keep you comfortable whether you're riding on smooth singletrack or through never-ending rock gardens. The body is made with carbon in a nylon matrix with PU foam providing light cushioning to add comfort without turning the saddle into a trampoline.

Syncros wraps a soft microfiber cover around the XR1.0 to act as a durable face, and the saddle is designed with a pressure-relieving central channel for support where you need it and relief where you don't. Syncros also doesn't ask riders to settle for a standard width with this saddle, making it available in narrow and wide sizes. The wide option offers a significant 11mm of additional coverage for riders with wider sit bones to ensure discomfort doesn't send you home early from a day on the trails.

    Firm, but right

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My initial impression hopping on this saddle was "ohhh boy, not much cushion." After some riding, I have concluded that while it's super firm, the shape is very well designed and so it is still very comfortable for lots of pedaling. People seem to have different tastes for saddles, but I'm definitely keeping this one on my bike for the rest of the season and beyond. Doesn't hurt that it's crazy light too.

I was looking for a new saddle for my MTB this year, and after riding a Tundra last season, WTB's the year before, and an Fizik Antares on my road bike, I knew i liked a fairly flat shape, but wanted to add a channel for pressure relief. This saddle hits the nail on the head. I've only got 2 rides in so far but am very pleased so far.
