Does the Job

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This tool (like all other edge sharpeners) is rather $$. It gets the job done though quickly and the bevel adjust is easy to use. It also can accept longer files than what comes with it.

works like a charm

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This tool is one of the easier ones I've used. It's got a low profile which makes doing side edges easy. Good solid feel and easy to adjust. I'm very happy with it

This tool does both side and base bevels set to the half degree, couldn't be happier.

Can this be set to half degrees? I own a pair of Line Masterminds and apparently Line's factory default edging is 88 1/2 degrees.

Everything I can find indicates that you should be able to adjust the angle to 1/2 degrees. You will need to buy a separate base edge sharpener, as indicated by the below question, as this is not designed to sharpen the base edge. Hope this helps some, sorry I couldn't find a better answer.

I'm not sure exactly how i'm supposed to sharpen the base edge with this one? any help? the side edge seems pretty self explanatory, but i can't wrap my head around a way to get the base edge without getting part of the base itself.

for the base I just take the file out and put it flat on the base and sharpen the edge
