The seven inch tall cuffs on these Swiftwick Pursuit Seven Merino Wool Socks make a lot of sense. After all, you're likely to wear these thicker Merino socks when the temperature drops a bit and you opt to leave your thinner summer socks in the drawer. While they're certainly not winter socks, Swiftwick's Pursuit Merino Socks offer a touch more insulation which makes them fabulously suitable for trans-seasonal days that may start chilly and warm up as you tick off the mileage. The superior temperature/comfort range of wool ensures all day comfort.

Swiftwick makes the Pursuit Merino Socks on a 200-needle knitting machine. The benefit is that you'll get a high density, seamless sock. The process allows variability in the finished knit of the socks, as different parts meet different performance requirements. For example, the cushioned footbed gives way to the thinner, channeled upper -- both components playing a crucial role to increase your comfort.

When you slip into a pair of Pursuit Socks, you'll immediately feel that they're tailored for your feet. The Y-shaped heel contour assures no bunching or overstretched feeling in the back, and the front and back of the ankle have a half-density weave that allows foot flexion and extension without bunching or tugging along the cuff of your shoe. Compared to the Aspire socks, these Merino wool socks are thicker, but just so. You won't have a problem letting out the closures on your normal shoes a bit to accommodate the extra insulation. Thanks to the wide temperature/comfort range of wool, you can wear them on chilly days when your lightweight summer socks just won't do. If it warms up during the ride, no worries -- wool breathes better than synthetics and its hydrophilic nature will ensure that your feet stay dry and comfortable. And when we say that wool absorbs less stink than most synthetic fibers, it's true.

The Swiftwick Pursuit Seven Merino Wool Socks are available in Black, Coal, and Heather Grey. They come in four sizes from Small to X-Large. The seven inch height makes them feel great in cooler weather. In addition, the taller cuff and multiple knitting patterns in the footbed and cuff add to the compression nature of the socks to promote blood flow in the feet and lower legs. And as you might guess, improved vascular performance means reduced fatigue and speedier recovery.

Good cycling sock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 200lbs

These are my go to socks for mountain biking. They offer a solid fit and don't slide up or down. Well designed. Merino wool wicks away moisture and also provides defense against odors. Not bulky at all, these provide adequate warmth on cold days without having to go with a bulkier sock.

No need for a second pair of shoes!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5'8"
  • Weight: 115lbs

We ride in the 20s-30s in SLC here. It used to be that you needed a second, larger pair of winter cycling shoes to accommodate the larger wool socks needed to fend off winter. These socks are thin enough to fit into your summer shoes, go under your leg warmers, and provide much needed winter warmth! Just add your favorite shoe cover and maybe line the inside of your shoe with some tinfoil if the temps go below 20.

My favorite dress/work socks!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: large
  • Height: 6'0"
  • Weight: 210lbs

In a sock draw full of random socks, these are my favorite that I always use. I should just throw my other socks out and use them for shop rags. They are soft, durable, and provide nice compression. Swiftwick definitely knows socks! With a size 11 running shoe/10.5 casual shoe, Size large fits me perfectly.

Wooly Goodness

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These socks are top notch. Merino wool doesn't retain odors either so that is a huge plus for your loved ones. Seriously though, quality construction and materials cause these to outlast most socks.

Durable + Compression = Love

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Height: 5'9"
  • Weight: 150lbs

Swiftwick socks are fantastic. Nice and snug to your leg, no sliding up and down., and durable to withstand many wash cycles. It is one of those socks that you could feasibly buy 2-3 pairs and rotate those through consistently and not see the sock break down. For those of you that wear out socks and take pride in it... Good luck wearing these ones out... Happy cruising out there!

Hard to Beat

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I got these socks for cycling, but i use them for hiking, walking around when i want my feet to feel good, so i wear them pretty often, they wick moisture really well, they don't slip around on my feet, snug comfortable feel all the time.

I'll never buy a different sock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

  • Size Bought: Medium

These guys mean business when it comes to socks. They do everything in house to ensure quality. They wanted Merino wool but to keep it in the States, so they bought the sheep and moved them here. I had a pair for over a year that I wore too much and when I bought more I compared the old and new and there was no color fade or stretching. Get these socks and your feet will love you!!!

Awesome Socks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are really awesome socks. Being merino wool they are warm, but they are not really thick like other wool socks I have had in the past. The socks are very comfortable, not itchy at all, and seem to be of very high quality. I liked these socks so much on the first ride I did with them, that I bought three more pair.

I highly recommend these socks!
