Awesome Adventure Hat
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I love this hat! It provided excellent sun protection on recent trip to Galapagos & Machu Picchu. I never had to worry about it flying off my head in the wind as the under chin strap and crown cinch provided great adjustability. It was easy to pack and even fit into a pocket. My head never felt hot. I loved the color-pumice. My only comment is don't rely too much on the sunglass lock. Yes, sunglasses stay in place when the hat is on your upright head, but beware if you bend down or hang the hat behind you. My particular sunglasses (Maui Jim) slid right out and are probably resting in the Pacific! Should have followed the advice to use "croakies."
Great Sun Protection & Perfect Brim
Excellent sun protection between the wide brim and the cape. Despite generous sizing on the brim and an impressive light weight, there is enough structure to keep the hat well clear of your eyes.
Ultra Well Thought Out for Any Adventure
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
We are an outdoors family, so we are always looking for serious sun protection. Sunday Afternoons delivers with so many cool options to choose from! Their hats are lightweight, flexible enough to fold up, water resistant, and dry fast if they get wet.
The Ultra Adventure hat is super lightweight and would be an ideal pick for long hikes or backpacking in moderate to hot weather. It also works well on the water, especially with the clever built-in sunglasses lock. Details like these have me swooning over Sunday Afternoons â their hats are built well and so thoughtfully made for the whole family.
The Ultra Adventure hat can easily be folded up, and comes out looking great every time (no creases or stuck folds).
The fit is generous, and easily adjustable with lightweight webbing on the outside to fit a wide range of head sizes. S does well with the size Medium, and has an average to slightly large head. The brim is generous but has enough structure to stay well clear of his face, and does not compromise visibility. The size is true if not conservative given the wide range of adjustments. The wide brim and cape provide ample sun coverage, and the mesh vents and light-weight help the wearer keep cool.
The chin strap easily tightens and loosens, and fits behind ears without trouble. It is tight enough to keep the hat on in gusts of wind.
The inside has a soft lining around the brim, and no hard or itchy features to irritate your heads. This is a huge bonus for us, that not many hat-makers seem to think of!
We love the Ultra Adventure hat for paddling and boating, and can also tell that it will be perfect for hiking and backpacking in spring, fall, and summer.
Sunday Afternoons have really thought through the features on this hat and delivered a great product.
Easy Size Adjustment
Lightweight webbing makes for easy size adjustments, since no two heads are the same!

The Ultra Adventure Hat Holds Up
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I'm not much of a bucket hat kind of guy, however, this hat really did it for me. After a weekend of exploring slot canyons in the Utah desert I don'Ât think I'Âll be able to part with it. It was great for keeping the sun off my face and neck during the approaches to the canyons. It was awesome in the slot too, as it helped protect my face from sand and water while getting through the more technical sections. This hat is compactable and durable and can be thrown in the bottom of your pack without the worry of space or that the brim will get messed up. All in all, super versatile, highly recommend.
