You rolled out pre-dawn, but by 10:00 a.m. the sun was out and the temperature was climbing rapidly as you kept up the pace. With most jackets, your only option is to unzip all the way and let the cape flap awkwardly, or you strip it off and try unsuccessfully to jam it into a jersey pocket. With Sugoi's Versa Jacket, however, you're in luck — just pop the sleeves off and now you've got the vest you need for the warming day.
The Versa Jacket is constructed from Sugoi's Argon fabric. It's made from woven ripstop, which creates a barrier between you and the elements while also being exceptionally durable. Argon is water and wind resistant, but at the same time breathable, so you'll stay warm and dry. This a stylish and protective piece for cycling, running, or cross-country skiing.
The fabric construction isn't the only thing that makes the Versa Jacket great. As mentioned, the sleeves are removable, attaching magnetically to the jacket to help you adapt the jacket to your workout. When you start your ride with the sleeves and don't need them anymore, simply slip them off and stow them away in the single back zip pocket or one of the two comfortable front zip pockets.
Adjustable cuffs cinch down over your gloves to keep heat in. Soft microfleece lining around the collar keeps your neck warm and doesn't abrade the skin. To keep air from sneaking in the bottom, dual shockcords, accessed from the pocket, allow you to pull the hem closer to your body. To let heat out, simply reverse the process. Reflective graphic detail throughout the jacket gives you 360-degrees of visibility during grey winter days and low light.
The Sugoi Versa Jacket is available in five sizes, from Small through XX-Large, and in the colors Supernova, True Blue, and Matador.

- Q & A
Very nice coat
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: XL
- Height: 5'11"
- Weight: 180lbs
I bought this coat recently and have only managed to get out once since I hit gravel and wiped out, breaking my collarbone in the process. Interestingly, even though I landed full on my left shoulder, I can't find any damage to the jacket. Not bad considering I went down hard on pavement. The jacket itself was very comfortable at 10 degrees C. I bought XL rather than L to give room for some under layers and that worked out well. I like the simplicity of the magnetic clipped sleeves. The jacket is also long enough to cover your kidneys and bottom, a real plus on cold days. My biking is over for this season, I suspect, but I look forward to giving this a real tryout when I can get on the road again.again.
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
This jacket was a gift. He LOVES it... especially the magnetic sleeves. (He gets a huge kick out of that!) Perfectly suited to what it's supposed to do, and looks great!
This was my first buying experience with Backcountry. I'd originally ordered too large a size, but customer service made the exchange super easy. I opted to purchase the replacement and process the return separately. It was all quick and painless. As a courtesy, I was given the sale price I'd originally paid (even though the sale had ended), the replacement arrived within a couple days, and the return process was as easy as printing a label and having the package picked up. Getting a real person on the phone almost immediately was something I considered a huge bonus, as well! Thanks! I'll be back!
Description says single back zip pocket. But photo makes it look like two. One or two?
My Versa is different on the back than pictured here. I have one pocket with one zipper running horizontally across the top of the pocket
