ONLY GET THE WHITE COOLERS
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- True to size
UPDATE: yesterday I wore the teal arm and leg coolers, and my review is below. But today I'm wearing the white coolers, and I can already tell they are better coolers. The material is significantly thinner than the teal coolers'. The white ones work like coolers should: letting the breeze go right through, and wicking moisture away quickly and effortlessly. Review for both: not sure what the issue is for the other reviewer; size is great for me. Then again, I'm a cyclist, not a runner. My calves aren't gigantic, to be fair, but these can handle bigger calves than mine. I generally wear a large in cycling gear, and these larges fit fine. Review for the teal "coolers": These are thin warmers, not coolers. I took them out on a hot-for-coastal-Bay-area day, and couldn't feel any breeze through them at all. My jersey let more air through. I even tried dowsing them with water while I was wearing them, but they didn't cool down or evaporate. The water just kind of stayed there in a damp spot; I still didn't feel the cool breeze. I could get a little relief if I lifted them off my skin, but that's not how coolers are supposed to work. They should be cooler than wearing nothing. When I hit a lot of cool gusts crossing the bridge, I felt cooler on my ankles (covered by wool socks) than I did under these leg "coolers." Compare that to my Morvelo arm coolers, which also block the sun, but allow you to feel every slight breeze, and whisk away your sweat with cooling evaporation. Those are truly coolers, and better than bare arms on hot days.
