5% spandex
Sadly I am allergic to spandex and the tech specs didn't include spandex in the material description. I didn't notice the 78% and 17% didn't add up to 100%, I only looked at the material description not quantity. These are beautiful pants but unwearable to a person with spandex allergies.

I'm kind of bummed with the pants b/c the other reviews seemed so great. My complaint is that the fabric is super cheap so the pants feel really synthetic. They're not smooth or comfy. I can only wear them right after I've shaved my legs or else the crappy fabric, like, snags on my barely there leg hair. It's basically uber cheap synthetic fabric, which is not what I'd expect from Backcountry. Also, the dye transfers big time in the wash so make sure you only wash it with plain black items. And it shrinks in the wash as well but not so much that it makes it unwearable, just enough to make it noticeable (and the legs high water). I bought it in medium b/c I like baggy comfy pants but it shrunk to a small and they're not baggy. :-( All around, not the best purchase I've ever made.
