    Okay...

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 150lbs

I was prepping for a hike, wanted to go all Smartwool but also wanted to save money and ended up compromising and buying one pair of these and one pair of the Smartwool bottoms. These are by far inferior to Smartwool and felt really tight, restrictive when I put them on. In contrast the Smartwool Medium fit perfectly. As far as warmth, I think they are okay...again Smartwool is better but these would do. If you are similar in build to me (5'10", 150 lbs and thin) you may want to try the large. Again, I thought medium was a bit tight throughout.

i like it better than my smartwool tight

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'7"

I used it as a base layer under ski pants. Great fit; i like the fact that they don't squeeze your waist while staying snug elsewhere. It is a bit thin, I wish they also had a slightly thicker model. Giving 4 stars as i have worn it only 3 times.

Huge holes after 1 wear. Bummed.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought two pairs of these (grey and black) for my husband. On the first wear, the grey ones got a huge hole so I exchanged for a new pair. But then even those ripped HUGE holes after a few wears. (I wash them on cold delicate and air dry). I also bought him a pair of Icebreaker's long underwear and those have held up beautifully. Invest in those; they'll last years. Sad these were such crappy quality...

    Works Well!

Thin and light weight worked great for me. They did run a bit small but mainly just in the length but they are easy to layer with and have held up better then expected.

    Great baselayer

Bought these as a gift and he loves them. They are warm, lightweight, and don't hold onto smells.

    Good stuff...

I am writing a similar review for the matching top for this bottom set. As with the top, there is a bit more interest in the reviews below than I'm finding w/ these bottoms but overall its lightweight and easily does the job. The fit is snug (and I'm thin) for the large, but the mid to low-calf cut on it, which I know is the newer style, is just not my jam. I'm not returning it - I just pull my board socks up high, but when doing other non-boarding activities the gap between
bottom and socks bugs me but maybe I'll get over that later on w/ more use.

Like the top, I can't really tell its the mythic Merino vs. any other synth layer I have (Pat'y; Marmot, N-Face) but it is lighter weight. I'm 6'6'' and slim, but have a 34 inseam - and these don't even approach the ankle so that doesn't really matter...you could have a 28 or 36 inseam and these are probably still fine - seems like the Large would accommodate a wide range of body styles.

Mostly for this price I think you can't go wrong for lightweight and warm - it does the job (and saves some coin) so I'm down w/ that!

    Lightweight warmth

Love these things, after using them for the first time I immediately bought 2 more pairs. My go to baselayer for any day of skiing. Super soft, comfortable, and versatile lightweight layer thats great at temperature regulation. Light enough for sunny spring days and warm enough on their own under a pair of shell pants for all but the coldest days. Fits true to size, 32 inch waist and a large fits great. Wish they made a 3/4 length version but rolling them back to keep them out of boots works and they stay put that way as well.

    Solid baselayer

    • Height: 6'0"

I ended up returning this product in favor of a thicker merino layer. However, this piece is quite a steal for the price!! Perfect lightweight merino layer that doesnt break the bank.

    crop length and no tag

    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'
    • Weight: 150lbs

I purchased these as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. Medium always fits him perfectly (he's 6' tall and weighs150 lbs) so I was sure they'd be right. When I took them out of the plastic bag I saw they had no tag on them. When an undergarment is a gift, you want the receiver to see the standard evidence they're new! Also, it was apparent they were very short, and not just by an inch or so. The hope was he'd wear them for xc skiing, winter walks, and even under his suit for work, but they're much too short to provide the warmth needed. The item felt nice and lightweight, as well as very smooth so would have been good as a baselayer under other pants without catching (i have some merino base layer pants that aren't as smooth and catch on the inside of pants of a variety of fabrics when I put them on). I have Stoic baselayer tops that fit very well so this was an unexpected disappointment. As I'm not currently in the US, it might be too much of an expense to return these. I have yet to decide what to do with them.

    Use them for hockey

Most of the bottoms on this site are insulated for skiing and staying warm. I needed something lightweight and breathable and I'm happy to find this! I use it under my hockey pads and they have been awesome. They are not retaining any smell yet, pretty stoked on that. Breathable and fit perfect.

    Great!

Great wool base layer at a good price. Comfortable, warm, good fit. If I am layering up I always use this and the Stoic Merino Lightweight 1/4 Zip Top - Men's to start. Bought my whole family these as gifts and they love them as well! Highly recommend.

    Merino Bottoms

I am a fan of the Stoic merino line, and these lived up to the hype. Lightweight makes for easy layering, soft to the touch, and the fit is spot on. I've seen these hold up to years of use and abuse, they're definitely durable!

I bought a couple sets of these baselayers, because I loved how cozy warm the merino was, how warm they stayed when wet and how they are almost stink proff. I have bought other merino baselayers before that were really thin and flimsy but these are very substantial.

Great product at a great price.

The lightweight Merino wool is surprisingly comfortable and great on hikes as well as daily wear. This has become my go to cold-weather gear.

I wear these under my shell pants for skiing. I use them on any day (warm or cold) and they keep me just the right temperature. They fit snug but not too tight and retain their shape well and don't get sloppy while I'm wearing them. I've worn a lot of different brands and Stoic is a great value and very bit as good as the other brands I've worn.

    Love the feel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've held off buying merino wool base layers because I didn't think they were worth the price. I was wrong. They feel great and are even warmer than my old polys.
