    Ease of temperature regulation.

Equal parts lightweight and warm, the Stoic Men's Merino Lightweight 1/4 Zip Top offers unimpeded performance and versatility. This top features a quarter-zip construction for easy temperature regulation, while the 100% merino wool construction wicks away moisture and dries quickly. Not to mention, merino wool is naturally odor-resistant, so you can forget about smelling akin to an old gym locker when you're done with your workout or ski tour.

    Runs a tad small

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I got the Large as I normally wear Large in other Baselayers. For the price, you really can't complain, it does the job. I also got the bottoms to match, I did find this a little tight but I stuck with the Large becase the sleeves are spot on. A large in this would be around a 40 inch chest. I had to wash it first too, just putting it on, I found that it had some minor itchyness. So I think this might be made with a lower quality merino wool. But overall, I am happy with it and for the price, you can't beat it.

    small fits tight

    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 140lbs

Deff on the snug size for a small. I usually wear small and this was pretty tight. So far after 4 or 5 uses I have had no issues. Pretty thin piece. I would purchase again.

    Keeps me dry and warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 150lbs

Super comfortable fit, keeps me dry and warm. Love the thumbholes, really pleased with them, I just wish the neck hole was a tad bigger

    Great baselayer...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'6"
    • Weight: 190lbs

There is a bit more interest & psyche in the reviews below than I'm finding w/ this top (and also bottoms, see other review) but overall its lightweight and seems pretty toasty so that really does it.

I can't really tell its the mythic Merino vs. any other synth layer I have (Pat'y; Marmot, N-Face) but it is lighter weight, roasty, and does the job. I'm 6'6'' and the Large sleeves are just barely (like 1/4'') too short but the material stretches so its not a big deal...I have thumbholes on my fleece so I'm fine. I I can also get a short sleeve shirt under it if its a warm day and that' matters for me.

The mock t-neck is also just slightly shorted than I'd hoped but again - not a deal killer. The fit is snug (and I"m not ripped) so if you're all stacked up, the XL is probably more your jam.

I like black and generally I like Stoic (people still ask about my 2014 Stoic bombshell board jacket) and I also have the matching bottoms, so I'm happy. Mostly for this price I think you can't go wrong for lightweight.

    Solid Baselayer

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 130lbs

I ended up returning this product in favor of a thicker merino layer. However, this piece is quite a steal for the price!! Perfect lightweight merino layer that doesnt break the bank.

    Awesome!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Great wool base layer at a good price. Comfortable, warm, good fit. If I am layering up I always use this and the Stoic Merino Lightweight Bottom - Men's to start. Bought my whole family these as gifts and they love them as well! Highly recommend.

    Surprisingly awesome

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 170lbs

When buying things at a low price like this, it is easy to be skeptical. Comparable merino tops go for 105-110. This one starts at 90 but frequently goes on sale! Don't buy this item full price, as it is frequently discounted 15% or more. I picked one up on sale and was blown away at the quality. This is now my primary ski touring base layer. It has an athletic fit, and I could have gone with a large but enjoy the next-to-skin fit of the medium, and the sleeves are plenty long enough. The wicking and temperature regulation are exactly what you would expect from a 100% merino garment. I own similar smartwool pieces and this pieces is just as good if not better and has thumb holes! The thumb holes are great for touring without gloves, as they keep your palms off of your cold pole handles but allow your fingers to breath freely. If you are active outside in cooler temps, do yourself a favor and get this shirt.

    Merino at a Great Price

You really can't beat merino wool when it comes to baselayers. It keeps you warm, breathes, wicks moisture, and resists odor naturally. I bought this for my brother, he uses it to snowboard in , climb in , and even lift at the gym. He loves it. I have the same women's version .

    Is that Merino?

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Yeah, you were right, 100% merino here to save the day. it is lightweight in name, but a heavy hitter for me, keeps me plenty warm walking around in the early spring temperatures with a t-shirt underneath. My favorite layer currently. Warm, super comfortable, and breathes incredibly well!

True to size definitely, purchased a M and it is a little small on me, but I usually wear a L.

    Amazing Value

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

This is the best value in merino wool underlayers. The Stoic brand is a reliable staple in my closet and I use it for everything from cross-country skiing to Winter fly fishing.

This is a must have baselayer for any Winter activity.

I bought a couple sets of these baselayers, because I loved how cozy warm the merino was, how warm they stayed when wet and how they are almost stink proff. I have bought other merino baselayers before that were really thin and flimsy but these are very substantial.
