Why We Built The Madrone 2 Tent

We made the Stoic Madrone 2 Tent because it's never been a better time to get outside and sleep under an open sky. Next time you have the urge to lay your home-away-from-home on a sun-dappled forest floor, the Madrone 2 is a good place to start. This roomy 2-person tent shelters in spring showers and defends against the winged insects of the night. And if the weather is fine you can whip off that rain fly—the mesh ceiling will let in a refreshing breeze, and give you a view of the stars.

More of a car-camping tent, it has some heft to it, but I think it could go in a larger size backpack pretty easily , or broken down into parts and stuffed inside. I have straps on my 40L backpack at the bottom to loop around the carry bag. The hardware, stakes and poles, go in the upper part for weight distribution. Having said that, this tent is a great value everywhere you look. Easy set-up - the hooks that hold the poles make it easier to set-up and take down the tent. Open on two sides, two vestibules, a loft, and storage inside, which is huge. I suspect you could fit three normal-size people inside with little crowding, or easily 2 adults, and a kid or dog. The rain fly has top vents and lines to keep it stable and fixed during a storm or wind event. I also bought the footprint. Very impressed with the quality!

Great tent!

I used this tent on an elk hunting trip to Colorado, I got is on sale for $80.00. This is the easiest tent I have ever used for set up and take down. Everything is so straight forward and simple. The stakes are nice strong aluminum stakes. It kept us dry during some pretty heavy rain one day. The double door and double vestibule worked great for keeping our gear, large pack, bow, boots, bino harness out of the elements. Pockets and gear loft were nice. It even fits back into the bag with ease, which also has straps to lash it to you pack if needed. Slept two guys with enough room to be comfortable, not roomy but works great for its weight. We had one person carry the poles/stakes and the other the tent and fly in the bag stuffed into the top of our big pack compartment, just don't roll it too tight or it won't squish into the pack as easy. We did not use a footprint. We moved and obvious sharp sticks but had a few sharper bushes that couldn't be moved which pushed on the bottom but we never had a puncture. We were setting camp in the middle of the woods so no camp pads but we never had a problem other than trying to find a flat spot. Just make sure to keep the fly pulled out tight using the corner ropes otherwise your sleeping bag might freeze the the tent wall on those extra frosty nights.

It ain't a backpacking tent (but you could definitely take it backpacking) This thing is sturdy, simple to set up when you are already trashed, and has withstood several storms with no issues. I'm very happy with it.

I got this tent to start taking my son on some backpacking trips. The only other one I have is a smaller one person. Then past few days we went backpacking through the John Muir wilderness. On day one we reached our spot for night one. Pitched the tent, and not more than an hour later a major storm hit. Hail, rain, thunder and lightening for 3 hours straight. This thing stood the test! Good buy for the money!

Works Great

Great tent that’s the perfect size for 2 adults. Appreciated the gear loft/pockets. Very easy to set up. It rained somewhat hard on us at one point and we never got wet/had leaks. We put the rain fly ropes through the middle tab to allow for more ventilation since it was warmer (see pic). Also purchased the footprint and was very happy with it. Would recommend!!

great little tent!

awesome lil tent. Perfect for car camping, but it would be quite manageable on a lowkey backpack too. as other reviews said, incredibly easy to set up. I put it through some brutal winds with the set of stakes that come with it and I was pleased to find my tent still standing on a daily basis- didn't budge even a little. equally comfortable during 90 degree days and 50 degree evenings. overall, really happy with it and looking forward to lots of nights spent inside!

Great price for a great tent

I just brought this out a few nights ago and was very impressed by how easy it was to set up solo. Having never set it up before, I was able to get it fully assembled, with the additional footprint, and the included rainfly in 4-5 minutes. Stakes seem to be good enough, but I always recommend having an additional set of high quality stakes around if needed. The floor was durable and didn't feel any of the little stickers that the tent was sitting on. Haven't rain tested it, but the construction seems good enough to fend off most rainy conditions. And, icing on the cake, got a ton of compliments on the Pine Forest pattern of the fly!

This tent is a great value for the price. I've recently gotten into solo camping, and I was eager to get my own easy-to-use tent without shelling out a ton of $. This tent is intuitive, SO easy to set up on your own, and is roomy enough for myself and my 80lb dog. To fit myself, my 5'11" boyfriend, AND my dog is a tight squeeze, but that says more about my dog than about the tent. The first time I used this tent it poured all night, and I stayed dry, cozy, and warm inside. I plan on using this through the fall. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid car camping tent.

Great Price, Good Tent

Recently purchased this tent, although I was hesitant as it had ZERO reviews. However, for the price I took a gamble and got it. For the price it is a very good, roomy tent. I am a huge fan of the 2 spacious vestibules that offer great storage for extra gear. The tent is designated as 2 person. In my opinion, it is a very roomy 2 person(2 person plus gear) or a snug three person. The reason I went for this tent compared to other tents this same price is that the entire tent wasnt mesh. This was important for those camping trips that the fly wasnt necessary and would offer some privacy versus a full mesh tent that would offer none. I am 6'2 and was able to spread out no problem. I was able to quickly set this tent up by myself within a few minutes. I used it about 50 degree weather, but I have yet to put the tents ventilation to the true test.

What is the size of tent poles and are they color coded?

Does this have fire retardant chemicals on it? Is the PU coating water based or oil based? Is it the same answer for the Driftwood model? Thank you so much for the help!
