Never leave home without it.
You never know when you might need the Stoic Women’s Helena Packable Down Jacket. Sure, you’ll bring this durable layer trekking through the fall foliage in the crisp mountain air, watching the sun set below the ocean’s horizon while swaying in the coastal breeze, or even layering underneath your hefty winter coat for an extra vote of warmth on a walk through the snow. But when a looming rain cloud turns your summer picnic into a date at the movies, the Helena’s lightweight, natural down insulation will be the first thing you wish for to keep you warm in the excessively air-conditioned theater. Luckily, with its packable design to easily stash into your tote bag or backpack, this midlayer can be kept close at hand for the moments when you least expect to need it.

Not as thick as expected
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: small
This is a good out and about jacket but only if you are going in and out of cars and buildings. Not as warm as expected but still a good fit. If you are looking for a warm jacket for long city morning walking commutes i'd say get something more insulated then this jacket. Fits true to size.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size

Got this because it was packable and great for traveling. It does that but not much more. It is very lightweight and can be packed into a small bundle. At the same time it is still very warm. However it is not meant for everyday wear. I've been wearing it for a week or two straight and it sheds considerably. My shirts are not only covered in the down but now my jacket is losing its insides. Soon I'll be left with a completely flat jacket. Afraid I'll have to pack it away and only use it for traveling/emergencies...
Sizing for Stoic is usually smaller but this jacket runs true to size. I usually get a Small in tops for Stoic but the jacket was huge on me so I exchanged for an XS which fit better; it still left enough room for me to wear a sweater underneath (I'm 5ft 105lbs). The length is a little longer for me but most clothing are because I'm so short. Only issue is that the pockets hit right at my hip so when I put my phone in the pocket (and it only fits in portrait orientation) it gets in the way when I bend. But not the jacket's issue, only a problem if you're short like me.
Another drawback is that the zipper busted open one time because of the phone-in-pocket issue. I bent over without adjusting my phone, which made it protrude out at the bottom and the zipper split open from the bottom of the zipper :( took a while for me to fix it but it still works normally after that. Hopefully it's not a continuing issue.
What is the down fill on this jacket?
is this jacket water resistant?
