Prusik Cord

Cut the Sterling Prusik Cord off its stool to make separate prusik knots for belays and, since you get 50 meters of it, you'll still have enough left to use it in pulley and anchor systems. This cord's 8mm diameter provides the best possible compatibility with rescue ropes in both 1/2-inch and 7/16-inch diameters, meaning it will grip well and bring the best resistance whether you're using your gear or your friends' gear.

Rated Strength

Sterling provides a MBS (minimum break strength) of 15 KN or 3500 lbs The cord itself has great hand, and is a very nice color as well. Very worth the investment to not have to order small lengths of cord whenever the need arises (which is all the time) Personally I am using the cord for anchors, my 6:1 longline (slackline) pulley set up, and a few other random things.

Worth the investment

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This is a top notch 8mm static line and I would trust it with my life, which makes it worth every penny. As many of us do I've used prusik knots for rappels and such utilizing lighter less expensive 6mm cordage. This is perfectly fine if it is an additional fail safe, but when it is a matter of something like self recovery we ought to go by the book. Prusik cord should be about 70% the diameter of the primary climbing line i.e. 8 mm Prusik cord on 11.1 mm primary. I myself would endorse selecting a color that contrasts starkly with your primary line. So as not to have an ice blue prusik on an ice blue primary, this will aide in interpretation of your lines when your faculties are not at 100%. In the event that the snow and ice gives way beneath your feet and you find yourself descending into a dark crevasse your heart rate and respiratory rate will spike like nothing you've ever experienced. (combat veterans and survivors of vehicle roll overs excluded) Your gear prep and the quality of your gear are what arrest your fall, from there it's up to you. Choose your gear with care and proper research.

Hey Leyton, This would work well to tie a safety backup on a rappel. Sterling listed the strength at 15.4 kn.
