A Very Well-Behaved Rope

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just bought this to replace a Sterling Velocity that has been retired to top-roping status. This Fusion was amazing right out of the box. No kinks, no tangles, no twists. It handled like a dream and practically coiled itself. Definitely lighter than many ropes I've had to carry. And there's even a physical bump in the pattern when you reach the middle of the rope in case you're not watching the color itself.

Used this to climb Ancient Art in moab

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used this on a multi pitch climb in Moab. Loved it, it was light enough that I didn't feel like I was lugging a 70m rope up. It weighs as much as my 50m rope does and it is a full 20m longer. The bi-pattern is also great to mark the middle. The only down side is that its too thin to really use with a Grigri 2, it lists on the grigri 2 that you can use down to a 8.9mm rope, but if you do you won't feel too safe with. It seems like it won't auto lock as well as you'd like.

Best rope there is

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second one. This is the best rope there is. It has a nice handle to it with no break in period and maintains durability through a hard season.

Best rope ever!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is one of 4 ropes we own. Used for trad and sport climbing outdoors. We needed another 70m and after extensive research, choose this one. Very happy with the decision.

Great Multi-Pitch Rope

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I first climbed with a Fusion Ion2 as part of a guided climb with the Colorado Mountain School (it's their weapon of choice) and immediately put it on my wish list.

The rope handles exceptionally well, has a very soft hand, is relatively light, and yet feels secure for a sub 9.5 rope (I wouldn't think thrice about using this for relatively new belayers). The bi-color pattern is awesome. I understand that some people are against bi-color ropes because the center may not actually represent the center anymore if part of the rope is cut. For my part, I'm willing to pay a little extra $$ to have a newish bi-color rope when climbing multi-pitch (the benefits of being able to quickly find the mid point when setting up a rappel or when judging how much rope is out are well-worth it).

Pros: Soft hand, light, feels secure for a thinner rope, it's gorgeous (I have the blue, but I think the red is at least as pretty, in case that's a factor).

Cons: For some reason backcountry doesn't carry the bi-color in a dry rope. Also, the bi-color dry rope seems to be on backorder at the moment from other retailers.

Great Multi-Pitch Rope

Fusion Ion2

I love this rope... The feel of it is great and the new bi-color is awesome, and is already proving to be very durable. The only down fall is for the first time I had to purchase this rope somewhere else because Backcountry doesn't sell it in Dry!
