    A high-performance skinny rope.

Sterling's Fusion Ion R Standard Climbing rope is strong for sport, light for multipitch, and reliable for terrifying trad climbs. Its 9.4mm diameter is an excellent starter for using skinny ropes, and multiple colored fibers give the sheath a speckled vibe.

This is my favorite piece of gear. Ever.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used this rope for mainly sport climbing with a little trad here and there. I love this rope. It's finally ready to retire, and I don't want to let it because I'm so attached to it. It's going to be remade into a rug or a tapestry or something because I refuse to let it go. I will probably replace it with another of this model, and when that retires add it to the shrine. Gives a nice soft catch, is light for leading/approaching, is easy to tie and untie knots with, and feels soft in your hand almost immediately. I have heard complaints about how much it stretches while top roping, and my response is usually to just get stronger so you can get back to where you were.....but you do have to factor that extra stretch in when lead belaying and watch out for ledges etc.
