    Old Faithful

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Been through a few of these rings by now, and I prefer them to most of the Gucci aftermarket options. Tooth profile is excellent-- chains run smooth and don't drop, and these rings are fairly long-lasting as well.

Seriously stiff. Very nice tooth profile

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The SRAM X-sync sets the bar for 1x chainring performance. It's nice and stiff due to it's width. Also, each tooth's profile is a little more significant when compared to 1x options from Race Face. The larger teeth ought to engage better and wear longer (more time will tell on this). This 104 bcd chainring does position the teeth a little more inboard than the Race Face Narrow/Wide ring. If you've got plenty of clearance with the chainstay, this slightly offset design ought to improve your chainline - especially when you're using the climbing gears.

I'm using this ring on my XX1 SRM and it fits the spider extremely well. The 32t or 34t work great for most XC racing, but if you like steeper terrain you might want to look for a 30t 104 bcd option elsewhere, since SRAM only offers a 32t or larger.

WARNING - may not fit your SRAM spider!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this (not from CC) to go onto my existing current model 104 BCD Sram X01 crankset. The tabs are not the same depth! You have to order a different spider. I'm not sure why Sram would sell a chainring in a 104 size that then forces you to buy the spider. Why not only make the 94 BCD/spider combo and skip the 104 option altogether. I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone, including SRAM on what spider I needed and no one stockes them... so I ended up buying a whole new crankset from Competitive, who were helpful and empathetic. I give the product 2 stars as I know the technology works flawlessly, but am dissappointed and confused with the lack of compatability with current SRAM products.
