Odd fit for me....
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- 6` 0"
- 230 lbs
Prior to purchasing I read a review stating to the effect that the jacket felt like it was on backwards...tight across the chest. I found this to be true. I wear an XL but when walking it fit great but when driving it felt tight under the arms. I sized up to a 2XL and not the fit across chest and under the arms is perfect BUT the rest of the coat is a bit large BUT I'm keeping it! Love the light weight and exceptional warmth. With a sweater underneath this actually becomes the perfect fit! I highly recommend the jacket given the above disclaimer.

700 fill without looking like a stay-puff marshmallow man... YEP! I'm a Judo, BJJ player and a skier. So I have shoulders and a bigger neck. A lot of tech jackets are too tight in those areas for me. Colorado winters are not too harsh. Even on cold days the suns out so layers are the answer. This jacket layers great without being too much. The fit is great and the front pockets are nice and deep. I would like a more heavy duty zipper and inside pockets but for me that is more a wish list instead of draw backs. Layers well with a soft shell if needed. The hem around the waist has a little weight to it- kinda like a power skirt but not. What it does is keep the jacket from riding up as you move around as to keep the "spare tire" look that down jackets tend to have at a minimal.(yay!) Out of 12 down jackets I have tried from www.backcountry.com (yes, I have two boxes of amazing jackets in my living room) this fits me the best around the shoulders and chest. It doesn't even look like I'm stretching out the material from shoulder to shoulder across my chest like almost everyone else's jacket's usually do. (I'm more of a banana republic fit than a eddie bauer:)) If your a slim fit you will probably not like this jacket. I would try the Patagonia down jackets as those will fit much better on you. Cheers! -Adam
