This down jacket is a far cry from the ordinary.

Time to get out of the army-green rut you've been in ever since seeing Platoon. The Spyder Women's Breakout Down Jacket will help you kick your color-codependency this winter. Pull on your snowshoes for a post-holiday stomp, sneak out for a dawn patrol on Thanskgiving morning, or hit that 75-day mark on the hill in this warm down jacket.

Despite the name, the Breakout bears a clean profile, not an unsightly bump in sight. The Spylon+ DWR helps water bead on the stretch-nylon face fabric, making it easy to shake off excess moisture before it penetrates through the material. The Xt.L lining provides waterproof and windproof protection for the drops that do sneak through the DWR treatment. This is particularly important since down insulation works magnificently .... unless it gets wet. Down, kept nice and dry, offers an unsurpassed warmth-to-weight ratio by the mechanics of its insulating abilities—the soft feathers and rigid fibers create an intricate grid in which air gets trapped in the open spaces. The trapped air acts as a barrier between cold air on the outside and warm air from your body so you stay warm and the jacket stays feather-light.

The waterproof front zip eliminates an entry route for moisture, and underarm zips offer an alternative exit strategy for excess sweat and heat. Welded baffles in a distinctive geometric pattern breaks away from your previous notions of what a down jacket should look like, in addition to preventing down from shifting and settling in preferred locations. The stretch powder skirt snaps back when you're in the pub or can be taken off when you're spending a day in the city.

    Rideable, Fashionable Down jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Been wearing this same jacket for 4 years. Still looks like new!! Super warm, fitted, great colors. This and the Aphrodite Down Spyder jacket are my fave's but this price is Awesome! You won't regret it..EVER.

Great jacket! Not cool (or young) enough for the color.

I am 5'7 and 135lbs. I do not consider myself "big" for a woman, but I have long arms and broad shoulders. I rarely find a women's jacket with the "just right" feeling. The sleeves always leave my wrists exposed and I have the "fat guy in a little coat" feeling. However, this jacket is an exception. The size 8 fit perfectly.

I loved everything about this jacket except for the color. Here's the good stuff: 1. The sleeves fit perfectly and it was wide enough across the back. 2. The length was perfect. It wasn't too long and hit at an attractive place on my hips. 3. It felt like a broken- in sweater: warm and cozy.

EXCEPT: The color on the website looks more lemon than lime and I liked the color as it appears in the website. However, as described, it is, indeed, "sharp lime." My fault: I should have based my choice on the description, not as it appears on the website. All in all, I really loved this coat, just didn't think I was cool enough to rock the color.
p.s. I pulled out my jacket from 7th grade; the one with shoulder pads and a fitted waist. It is the same color as this jacket. :)
