Why We Like The Torch 1.0 Cycling Shoe

Specialized designed the Torch 1.0 Road Shoe for entry-level cyclists who want to clip into premium footwear for their first time. It features a scientifically-tested Body Geometry design that provides proper hip-to-foot alignment for a boost in power and increased efficiency. The moderately stiff sole balances between beginner-friendly comfort and pedal-pushing performance. Specialized equipped a Boa dial and hook-and-loop strap to fasten the supple upper snugly around your foot.

Easy use no complaints

I bought the mint color a while ago and got to try them out at my local cycle studio. Super easy clip in and was sturdy. I like the wire instead of Velcro that I have used in the past. Recommend I really like them.

Arrived miss-laced

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This shoe has worked perfectly for a few days. However, I noticed shortly after I started wearing them that the Boa dial wire on one shoe was not laced through the protective sheath. The shoe appeared to come this way from the factory. My worry is the dial wire will damage the outer shoe material enough to pull through the eyelet and render the shoe unwearable. I'm working with CC and the specialized warranty team to see if they can fix the issue or if I can receive a replacement.

Excellent Basic Shoe

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Great basic shoe for a recreational rider who doesn't want to break the bank. I've really got zero complaints about it - it works just fine for me. First boa adjuster for me - I love it. Competitive Cyclist was excellent when I had to return my first pair due to a small defect.

My 5th pair of Specialized shoes

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Specialized makes great shoes and you can read plenty or reviews about the fit, features, etc. I wanted to touch on two points, the varus wedge and metatarsal button. The varus wedge rotates your foot outward slightly, you won't even notice it, but for me it solved foot pain on the outside of my feet. I had used wedges under my cleats for years until I found specialized built that into their shoes. Genius!! Second, the metatarsal button gently spreads your toes apart. Ever get that tingly, numb feeling in your toes on long, hot rides? If yes, like I used to, the metatarsal button solves that. These two features along are worth so much more than the shoes cost if you have pain in your feet, toes, the outer edge of your foot, hot spots, etc. I used to pull my feet half-way out of my shoes on long rides to get some relief but with these I can make it the full ride in comfort. This more than anything improved the quality and enjoyment of my riding!

Great shoe

Over the past few years I've been riding Shimano RC 7s and 9s. Full carbon soles. I've tried Shimano insoles, Bontrager insoles, specialized insoles, home-made insoles. Nothing worked and many long rides ended in agony. I have very low arches and a wide forefoot. These looked like they might work. They do! I use a very benign insole and my feet have never been happier. My right foot is very happy and after a bit of tweaking the insole, my right foot is as well. No more hotspots or searing pain. The sole is plenty stiff for me and the price is right. The aesthetics of the shoes are great too. Thinking of getting a pair of the light green ones. Full carbon soles? Never again.

Great Shoe At A Great Price!

I was actually waiting for this shoe to get back in stock at my local bike shop and after over a month I was done waiting. I found it here at Back Country and couldn?t be happier. Delivery was super fast and the price was actually cheaper than what I was going to pay. Definitely a customer for life. So far as the shoe I am beyond pleased with it. Very comfortable and secure. Super easy to adjust during longer rides. I was warned by a few people to never get a white shoe for cycling but as someone who ALWAYS rocks white kicks I did it anyway. This shoe is super easy to clean not that I find it very dirty if at all in the first place.

Love These Shoes!

These Torch 1.0 shoes wrap my feet perfectly. No sliding around inside, not too tight, perfect like a glove. I tried on a lot of shoes from other manufacturers. There was always some extra material, either on top, or on the sides. If I pushed on the material, it was as if there was an 1/8 of hollow area underneath. Not so with these Specialized, perfect fit. They're light, easy to put on, easy to adjust, and easy to remove. I love'em.
