In fact, it offers the same stiff, high performance as Spark's original Surge Binding, except this binding is lighter and thinner to make skinning less of a drag. Spark R&D made this binding lighter without hindering performance by reinforcing the Rip 'N' Flip highback with carbon to keep the stiffness without the weight. It seems like Spark thought of everything to make this professional model as light as possible; even the included hardware and Pebax pillow straps are lighter than the original model.
