Very nice boots nice leather Made well

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Wow received in two days. Suggest getting a half size bigger. I normally take 9 and got 9.5. It’s perfect with sock. Nice leather with back nylon straps for quick tightening. No worry about breaking straps as they appear to be very strong . I love the fact I can slip these boots on in a hurry without doing anything up. Perfect for rain and snow and horse back riding. Can’t wait for the snow and to muck out stalls!!

    Wife Loves Them

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Purchased them for my wife and she absolutely loves them. They look great and are very functional. In my opinion they are quite overpriced for what they are, but I guess not everything is about value. They are very stylish and seem durable. They do run small. Wife wears 7.5 and had to return for size 8.0.

Best Overpriced Rain Boots I Ever Bought

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Let me start by sharing—I live in the White Mountains of NH. Winters here can be hard—snowy, long, and bitterly cold. Between work and kids, I was looking for a new pair of boots that would transition from professionally polished office environment to kids' activities with ease while still allowing me to make contact with the brake pedal of my car. My 1997 Christmas gifted Sorel were exhausted—but boy, what a great boot they were for +20 yrs! There was not a Nor'Easter or sub zero day that I feared for my feet! Which naturally had me looking for a replacement pair of Sorel.

I researched for weeks between different vendors, distributors, trying on boots in stores in the area, and reading up on before finally pulling the trigger here on BackCountry with the Slimpack II. I wasn't willing to take a +$225 risk, but a good sale on the website with free shipping had me spending ~$150 on chance. And that was a risk I was willing to take.

I knew there would be, what I projected, a "slight compromise" in warmth to get the style I desired, but multiple "rave reviews", somewhere between here and there, boasted of brave pioneering women wearing these on their "mountainous weekend winter excursions while on their quests for the perfect winter sunset ”. If the potential to climb to the top of the mountains in my backyard existed, that alone would be bonus. I should have known better.

What I didn't plan on was just how disappointed I would be with the overall function of these boots.

Sadly, these are not the Sorel that I came to know and love. Insulation is nearly non-existent and I am still worried the liner is going to pull off the calf-shaft with each wear. Want to really know what "100 grams of insulation" feels like? Put on a pair of trouser socks and you'll be ahead of these boots for warmth. Second, both the rubber sole and actual foot of my old Sorel could have been used to ground out a power plant—but the “vulcanized rubber” on these is a joke. They are one stubbed toe away from puncture and then—the trash, and honestly, credit cards appear to have more thickness than the rubber wall. Speaking of the rubber, while some reviews left me feeling confident with the no-slip grip sole, the hard heel will quickly take away any assurance you have when walking across ceramic tile or VCT. I've eaten my grocery bags a couple times. Lastly. I have been very fortunate to have a “chameleon” of a foot. I have never needed arch support and have never met a footbed that has caused me discomfort after 12 hours of consecutive wear. These boots have about a 4 hour life expectancy on my feet before I'm looking for the comfort of something else.

The highlight of these boots? They are cute [I bought the Tobacco Red], but definitely a fashion statement. They are light, by comparison, to my former boots, which would leave you with calves even Jane Fonda could envy. And, they are indeed very much waterproof. But with the cold water on the outside of the boots, you're feet end up absorbing the cold temperature through the rubber—just not the water. The actual foot size I had no issues with, however, I had to order half a size up to make the heel bend and accommodate my wide calves. I knew this from trying them out at Sorel dealers.

However, I will be keeping these and saving them for the ~10 weeks a year that I can use them. Those fall and spring sports games for the kids. The early morning yard sales, dewey outdoor auctions, fairs, and fishing derbies. Those 40 degree spring days when the snow begins to thaw and those walks to and from the mailbox on a muddy afternoon.

These are the best rain boots I ever bought, but the worst winter gear I've ever purchased.

    Great Boots!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been wearing these all Fall and Winter long and I love them. I get tons of compliments on them and they're very versatile. They also have been holding up well with the varying winter weather. They definitely run small. I am a true 7 and they didn't fit at all. I returned them and ordered an 8 and they have been great.

    Awesome fall/winter boot. Super Versatile

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Fast shipping. Accurate order. Boots fit great. I’m a 7.5-8 who almost always wears an 8 in every brand. These are a perfect fit. Enough room for thick socks, but not too loose with slim socks. Contrary to other reviewers, my sizing is perfect. The tobacco color is beautiful, unique—it has a faded well used appearance. Boot is durable in both rain and snow. I worried these wouldn’t be warm enough in single digit temps—but surprised yet again by how versatile they are! Very warm. Lastly, I receive complements everywhere I go. 👍🏻 Fashion forward and outdoor competent!

    Bad Heel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Loved these when I purchased them. I have never had a problem with Sorel and have about 8 pairs of them. After about 3 weeks the heel on the these boot started to come off. Not impressed especially for such a expensive boot.

    Runs a bit small

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got two colors of this boot, just to see them in person.
The Quarry/Pebble is beyond cute, but the Redwood/Tobacco is way more red than brown.
I found that these boots do run a bit small, like a half if not a full size small depending on the bulk of the socks that you wear. These haven't been worn outside yet, but so far, we are loving these.

    Beautiful Boot

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Regrettably I have to return the boots only because the back buckle which allows you to adjust the calf size is difficult for me to use. These are really nice looking boots and very high quality and comfortable. I sized up a half size and it was a good fit. Backcountry makes the return process easy and I'll be shopping their website for an alternative. This was my first purchase of a Sorel product and I was impressed.

love the color not the fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I have the slimpack from a few years ago and love them. They are true to size and the heel height is just right. I am bummed that these are nothing like the old pair. I am an 8.5. These feel more like an 8 and the heel is too tall and awkward forcing your foot forward. Love the color not the fit, back they go.

    Go-to boot

My wife wears these boots daily in the winter. This year's style is a bit different with an angled top. The straps to tighten the boot are not leather. She really preferred past year's styles, however these boots are still a more stylish yet comfortable winter boot option.

      Go-to boots

My wife is a big fan of the slim pac riding boot. Once these boots break in they are very comfortable. They can feel a bit stiff at first around the ankle. The top of these boots have a different shape than past styles. The straps on the back are not leather.

        love these boots!!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size

I found them true to size as I wear an 8.5 in my other Sorel boots and these fit me perfect. They are very stylish and have kept my feet dry and warm (with ski socks) when I have worn them skiing. I love the the fact that they don't look like typical waterproof boots.

        So comfy

I'm glad I ordered a half size bigger. I absolutely love these. They are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Waterproof, warm, cute, and rideable- Perfect!

Hi Cortney! I am 5'9" and see you are 5'8" so I thought maybe you could answer a question about these boots for me. Does the shaft on the boot look short? I had read a review that said they are very short. I realize they probably won't come to my knees, but don't want them halfway between my knees and ankles either. Also, I was considering ordering a whole size larger based on reviews. I usually wear a size 10. Thanks for your help!

        Thar be a great Booty!

Purchased these for my roommate for Christmas, here are her impressions:

"I absolutely love them! Make sure you go at least a half size bigger than you normally wear. They are a good leather, so they take a while to break in. I have small calves, so the straps on the back are super helpful. They are very sturdy, but not warm because they are not insulated. They are perfect for kicking any attacking ninjas in the face."

Ok, that last line I made up. If you have any additional questions about these boots, or any other sorel boots, feel free to hit me up directly!

        Thar be a great Booty!

        liked the older version better

        • Height: 5'3"
        • Weight: 125lbs

I have the slimpack tall riding from a few years ago, and was hoping to replace it with this model and while it's still a great boot, I thought the previous version was so much better looking. returned.

        Stylish winter boot

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 10
        • Height: 6'0"
        • Weight: 155lbs

The fit is not at all loose fitting like some of the other Sorel style boots, it is a comfortable pull-on fit. Not overly bulky like most snow boots. Definitely one of the most fashionable boots from Sorel. I love them!

Is the dark fog / silver sage color mostly gray or does it have a green-ish color to it?
