I have nothing but good things to say about these boots. Spent a weekend camping in the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota during the recent Arctic blast. Temps the entire weekend were between -45F and -10F, but for the most part my feet were nice and warm. My toes were a little cold first thing in the morning while waiting for the campfire to get going and also when I stood around on the ice or frozen ground too long. My feet warmed up pretty quickly after stepping onto a standing pad to avoid direct contact with the cold ground My sock system was composed of an inner poly liner with 78% wool socks. I wear a size 10 shoe but bought these boots in size 12. The standard insoles that come with these boots are great. I bought a pair of 8mm bison/wool insoles because I wanted as much insulation from the ground as possible. On one of the days, I wore those in one boot while wearing the standard insoles in the other. There was no difference. What I appreciated the most is the fact that it was fairly easy to insert my fresh inner boots into the main boot in the mornings. While the boots were frozen, it was easy enough to break it up to insert the inner boot. (If you're thinking about camping out in these temps, you MUST remove your inner boot before going to bed otherwise the whole thing will be frozen solid in the AM!). What's also nice is that these boots go up past your calves so gaiters are not needed. Others in our group had the Sorel Caribou boots and their feet were cold.
