Love these boots!
I normally wear sz 7.5 generally and with Sorel. Because of the reviews regarding sz for this boot, I ordered a sz 8. The 8 fits perfect. Absolutely no issues getting the boot over my heel as mentioned in the other reviews. These boots are as pictured online. For myself, I think they're comfy, rock a pair of skinny jeans but would also look cute under a dress/skirt. Simple but stylish.

Excellent Boot
I never write reviews, but I love this boot so much I felt it was worthy of my time to drop a line. Also, I want Sorel to know that they better not ever discontinue this boot in case I want to buy another one! I wore this boot several days a week for weeks on end this past winter in mammoth lakes, ca in snow, ice, slush, rain, mud - walking on icy asphalt, icy concrete, snow covered dirt roads, muddy dirt roads, deep snow, icy snow, etc. They have kept my feet and calves warm and dry. They are definitely waterproof. The weather is warming up and I am realized how amazing these boots were throughout the winter and I will be sure to store them away with great care til next season so they'll be around for years to come. But since I wear them so much and put them through a lot, I don't want Sorel to discontinue them in case I need to buy a new pair in a couple years! I'll also add it's pretty awesome to have such a functional boot that still looks fashionable. I received several compliments from strangers. Really great boot. Only small thing I'd suggest is to get rid of or relocate the leather tag on the heal - I have ruined it when I use my other foot to step on the heal to get my foot out. About sizing: I was worried when I first put them on that I had ordered too small of a size (they were a bit tight), but after wearing them for 2 days, they fit like a perfect glove. Love the leather. I usually wear either 7 or 7.5 shoe sizes. I ordered a 7.5.

AINSLEY TALL MAKES ME WISH FOR RAIN!
I have finally found the perfect rain boot! The elegant design resembles a classic hunter-style boot, but the waterproof leather provides the protection from the elements that Sorel is known for. The deeper angle on the front of the ankle, combined with the stretch calf panel, provides flexibility needed to keep my joints and gait happy. The cushy insoles are the icing on the cake! I wish I would have bought a second pair! I LOVE these boots!

Ankle Discomfort
I bought both colors of this boot, hoping the elastic would offer enough stretch for my wide calf. Good news, the calf does stretch enough that I can wear a stocking and skinny jeans inside the boot. It's not the most comfortable, but I can deal with it. The bad news is that the leather is stiff, and if there is any bunching around the ankle, it HURTS (I had pink spots on my ankle overnight). I wore one pair all day, hoping it would soften, but it didn't. I returned the other pair. In fairness to Sorel, I am only 5'4", and my daughter, who is 5'6" with average calves, wears the same boot without issue. I have found, if I turn the leather off center, it doesn't bunch as much.

Good quality but not right for me
These look more casual on than they do in the pictures here. In the pics they look like your standard flat tall black boots that can be worn with just about anything - dress up or dress down. They looked like rain boots when I put them on - clunky sole, awkward fit on my calves, and they just kind of looked like combat boots. I was hoping they would look more like the Major tall boot with the adjustable calves and more sleek sole. I returned them. They seem like a great boot otherwise. Probably reasonably warm, etc. Just not the style I was looking for. I felt they fit a bit small compared to other styles.

Great boot
It’s hard to go wrong with Sorel. These boots are cute and comfy! My only complaint is that the ankle is so stiff it’s hard to get your foot in at first! I literally had to work on one side for like 15 min!

Great find!
This boot is very comfortable, warm and stylish! My feet are wide and it is difficult trying to put the boot on without a boot horn but once I get them on they are golden! This is such a great color as they tend to have more of a red hint to the brown color. I highly recommend these boots!

Sorel Black Ainsley

These boots fit true to size (8.0) and were just the right size around the ankles and calf for her. She is a size XS in pants / bottoms to give readers of this review an idea of her calf and ankle size.
