    Not worth the price

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

With under 40 minutes of use, the stove failed on a recent trip. One burner produced only half a flame, hissed and turned bright orange. I changed the fuel, checked for blockages and found no obvious signs of damage. In addition, neither of the starters worked correctly.
Because I was outside of the 30 day purchase window, I paid an additional $70 to have the unit shipped to Snow Peak for repair or replacement.

    Expensive but worth it.

I bought this because I'm just a SP addict. When I recieved it, the flame adjustment mechanism was bent so SP replaced the unit. (they have great support)
I took it on our family camping outing to Lake Superior Provincial Park (which is great) and have this to report.
      1. the auto ignition is good when it works but sometimes you have to click the darn thing many times. I think SP needs a stronger spark, larger inductor value.
      2. the unit is robust with a grate that allows you to use very heavy pots/pans without feeling wimpy.
      3. clean-up is a snap as the bottom plate is anti-stick coated. crud just flakes off after 5 days of heavy use.
      4. the flame is a beautiful blue with great dispersion.
      5. It's heavy.
      6. you can have two very large pots and pans next to each other and get away with it.

I am very happy with this purchase.

I also have the SP BBQ with trays that detach with the coals. don't know why BC does not carry the BBQ'er.

I wish BC carried the griddle pan as well.

I want to use it two ways: First, on the ground. Second, on the little counter of my camper van. Question: When operating on my van counter top, without the legs deployed, will it be too hot for the counter top?

what makes this stove worth 400 dollars...

what makes this stove worth 400 dollars when Comeman has been seeling a green camp stove, 2 burners and with windscreens for under 50 dollars for over sixty years?

Personally I don't think it's worth anywhere close to $400. I've had a Coleman 25F for many years that I purchased for $30 that I'm sure works just as good as this Snow Peak stove. If you do purchase it, please give it a thorough review. Perhaps we've all overlooked some small detail!
