    Model A Splitboard

The SnoPlanks Model A Splitboard sports the same shape, camber, and flex as the all-mountain Model A Snowboard from SnoPlanks, with an exception for its ability to tour the backcountry. Incredibly versatile, the Model A is shaped with fun, user-friendly, directional profile that glides powder with ease. Alternatively, the soft camber can edge firmer snow for locked-in stability on bulletproof ice.

SnoPlanks built the Model A with a stiff, poppy bamboo core strung together with carbon filaments that drastically increase stiffness without adding much weight. Its topsheet boasts a more-complex triax weave for greater torsional flex, resulting in a much more responsive ride. Full sidewalls and steel edges maximize durability that should keep you hucking off cliffs and jibbing fallen trees for seasons.

My Model A split has surpassed all of my expectations. Its light on the way up and responsive on the way down. Cant wait to get back on it.

If my gear fails, my job fails

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Last season I made an all backcountry snowboarding film based out of Oregon. We don'™t have many backcountry snowmobile access zones, this means a shitload of split boarding. I used the Snoplanks 160 Snodisc two years ago for my first time, it met all my needs and then some. I knew going into last seasons project I would be going longer and further on my split board than previous years, I also would be carrying more weight because I was the only camera operator. I was nervous I would break my split board at some point when I was out in the field; I weigh 155lbs. dry and with all my gear I am well over 200lbs. I can™'t have a board that is made for a 200lb.+ person because I won't be able to tour or ride it, the stiffness would exhaust me and create unnecessary risk, along with a less than memorable ride down.
I began my season with a new Snoplanks 160 Snodisc and ended with the same board, albeit the board had some battle scars. You might think, no big deal, I've never broken a split board and I am happy for you, I honestly am. I do wonder if you toured over lava rock, flexed through creeks, fell down ice fields in tour mode, walked long periods over dirt, carried the weight I did, day in day out, over a 7 month period. If you did and your board toured and rode incredibly well from beginning to end without breaking or delamming than again, I am happy for you. The Snoplanks I rode did the aforementioned and I am in awe.
I would recommend the Snoplanks I rode to anyone, beginner or expert. The board tours how I want to tour and rides how I want to ride. I have no reason to be anything but honest about my review, if the board didn't meet the demands I required I wouldn't recommend it; it's too dangerous in the backcountry to have a subpar product that could fail, plus, who wants to work their ass off to have a miserable ride down? I don'™t.

    Lightweight Mountain Goat

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This might be the most lightweight Splitboard on the market. This board rallies up the skin track so you can save some energy to lap the goods all day. Stable at high speeds and handles nicely through the thick chundery snow. Set back just an inch allows for an effortless glide though the deep stuff. Definitely my favorite Splitboard I have owned to date. Get one for yourself, your Splitboard legs will thank you this winter.

    Model A split perfection

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I consider the backcountry my go to place for snowboarding and when I venture out, the Snoplanks Model A split is the only choice of splitboard for me.

I’ve taken this thing through some of the mellowest fun tree runs to the tops of the central Oregon mountains, and I have yet to be disappointed. I’ve built and hit massive backcountry jumps with it, and straight lined down some amazing Oregon backcountry lines. This board has been my best friend for the past two season and I can’t wait for the snow to fly so I can get back on it! Myself and a few others filmed an all Oregon backcountry movie this past winter and the Model A spit was my weapon of choice. I’ve attached a teaser for your enjoyment ;)

See you in the hills !

    My go to

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I’ve been fortunate enough to be a photography Ambassador for snoplanks for the last three years, which has enabled me to get to know their whole quiver of boards pretty well! This board is hands down my favorite product of their™s to date! The Model-A split is ripable in every condition that is worthy of ridding . Not to mention it’s incredibly durable, yet light weight and responsive - a combo that is hard to find in a split board. Keep em commin SP!!!
