    Parallel D Max Polarized Sunglasses

Throw on the Parallel D Max Sunglasses, tip your hat to Aunt Cindy, and roll out into traffic. Between the widened lens profile (hence the D) and the glare-killing polarized lens coating, your eyes won’t mind looking towards that floating ball of gas (the sun, not Auntie). The non-slip Megol nose and arm pads get stickier as you sweat so uneven surfaces have less of a chance to jar them loose, and the tapered lens shape helps reduce peripheral distortion. In addition to those functional benefits, you might even reel in some compliments regarding the smooth lines and minimalist styling.

    First time disappointed with Smith

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been wearing these Parallel frames for years, and have gone through several pairs, inevitably loosing them. This purchase was to replace a lost backup pair, since I still had some lenses and they're not making this style anymore.
But these new frames, with the 'Smith' on the side, instead of the 'S' logo, had a nose pad pop off during their first week of minimal use. Never had that happen on any of the dozen or so Smith sunglasses I've gone through over the years. (Although, one nose pad broke after it froze in below zero F weather.)
Also disappointed not to get the extra pair of lenses advertised, that have always come with every other pair of Smith's I've ever bought. Smith has discontinued these Parallels and it looks like I got one of the last pairs. Hopefully Smith's warranty and good reputation for customer service will help.

Sturdy with a great field of vision

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I’ve been wearing this style for several years now. They fit my face well and I love the interchangeable lenses. I wear them daily almost year round and beat the crap out of them. They stand up over time and then I replace the lenses about once a year. I don’t know about cool points but these are super sturdy, have lenses with good optics and don’t crowd my field of vision. I’ve tried the gold mirror (not dark enough for me) the grey & brown polarized. I definitely like the brown the best. These also fit a bigger head. The other parallel’s are a smaller cut I didn’t like.

    Great Shades

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have many pairs of Smith sunglasses over the years and love them. They are great for all of my trail running and mountain biking. Changing the lenses a are very quick and easy.

    Function before form

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I love these sunglasses. They are probably the ones that I wear the most. They're super comfortable and light. My wife doesn't like them and I actually think they're pretty dorky looking, but at least I can't see them while wearing them. Haha.

Changing the lenses is easy. Great for mountain biking as they don't fog easily. I've got the gold mirror lens and Smith advertises is at a brown tint, but it's actually a gray tint. It's not a very dark tint, so might not be the best option for really sunny days for those with sensitive eyes. Nice thing is if you get these shades and aren't crazy about the lens you choose, you can just buy a different lens.

For sizing reference, I have a very big head and these fit me well. I notice a lot of the reviewers of these have small heads and are happy with the fit. Must be because of how flexible the frames are. Those with bigger heads are probably best off with this version of the Parallel (as opposed to one with smaller lenses).

    Good Fit for Cycling!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 125lbs

Tried this on against many other sunglasses at the warehouse - they fit my head great and they come with 3 sets of lenses - so I went for them!

What I like best is that they have HARD PLASTIC on the side. As a female, the malleable plastic on the sides of sunglasses is the worst because it gets my hair stuck in it - but this really shouldn't.

    Favorite Sporty Pair

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    1. All light conditions covered

    2. Good protection, have curbed multiple bug/hanging branch eyeball attacks

    3. Great for women, they fit my small head and narrow face well

    4. Lens swapping wasn't my favorite at the beginning... I was afraid I was going to break the frames, but with a little practice it got easier and now its old hat. Love them!

    Great active wear sunglasses

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these for my Father to wear as both a daily driver set of sunglasses and as semi-protective wear while at the gun range. The fit is spectacular- for those with thinner faces, the weight is minimal to nonexistent, and the fact that they come with 3 interchangeable lenses is just a bonus. I've picked up a pair for myself since and I use them while out on my road bike. The ability to change from clear, to yellow, to rose lenses at different times of the day is absolutely awesome! I've recommended these to everyone as a great all around/do it all pair of sunglasses since then.

    Ah, yeahhhh!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just bought these to replace some max's that I recently lost. UPS just dropped them off 5 minutes ago and I can't believe BC is now sold out - I got the last pair! WINNING! These look f****** awesome! I look like one bada** mot*** f***** in these sons of b******!

    Great action sport sunglasses

I bought these sunglasses for my wife to wear while mountain biking. She is on the small side, yet these glasses still fit well. She has not had any problems with fogging or slipping. The extra lenses make these sunglasses useful for a variety of light conditions.

I have had these glasses for approximately a month now, and have put off writing a review until now, because when I first received them, I was in love. I figured that I would wait until the honeymoon was over so I could give an honest opinion about them.

That being said, I purchased these glasses for use while specifically Hiking, Mtn. Biking, Trail Running, and every day use. I have tested the glasses out while doing all of the mentioned activities, and could not be more pleased. I have gone through many sets of sunglasses in my day, and have found the following pros with the Smith Parallel D-Max Sunglasses:

I have a medium size face, and these glasses have perfect coverage and I find no light coming in through the sides.
The nose pads are comfy, and during my tested activities, I have not noticed any slipping or pinching. I also don’t get the annoying red “pad marks” on each side of the nose.

There have not been any “foggy” moments even when I am sweating like mad.
The Evolve frames are very light, and don’t give you a heavy feeling around the ears/nose. The frames are also very durable, and I have put them through abuse so far.

I ordered the black frames, with Gray, Ignitor, and Clear lenses. The Gray lenses are fit for sunny days, and when it turns cloudy, I just swap them out for the Ignitor which prove to be perfect protection for overcast days. I have not used the clear lenses often, but have found that late night bikes rides with the clear lenses provide optimal “Anti-Bug in the Eyes” defense.

All in all, these glasses have surpassed my expectations, and continue to be worth the money I paid for them.
I cannot write a review and not shout out to and their awesome dedication to customer service and unreal selection and prices. TY

        Three lenses are Sweet

This is a great pair of glasses that comes with three sets of lenses so I am ready for all light conditions. The pair that comes in it is Polarized and then the Ignitor (rose) lens is perfect for morning and evening rides. Even though I do not use the clear lens as much, it is great to have for after dark activities. D-Max is great for my big head.

This product is listed as "Women's". How does it differ from the Parallel Max regular? Are the frame and the lenses smaller?
