Most scratch prone lenses ever
In 4 decades of skiing I’ve never had less durable lenses. If you fog these, wipe with cloth or finger, you will ruin the lens. I’ve used 2 lenses in 4 days of skiing, ruining both. I was shocked. I’m picky about taking care of glasses and goggles. Had pair of Oakley goggles for years. A third the price of the Smiths. Never had to buy a new lens. My $55 Suncloud sunglasses? Just dandy. Wipe them with cloth, shirt, paper towels. No problem. I’ve never had such an expensive piece of gear be so lame.

Terribly delicate, easiest scratched len
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I’ve skied for decades, am very careful with my goggle and glass lenses. Had pair of Oakley goggles for years without having to change a lens. Got 4 days on new Smith I/o mag goggles and both lenses badly scratched. First, rose tint lens fogged a bit even though it was plenty cold out and I used my cloth face mask to wipe out a bit. Not particularly aggressive at all. Did that 3 times, rendered the lens useless. So next trip to Wolf Creek, 29” dump, we’re hiking the ridge, getting a bit warm, goggles fogging a bit again. Using brand new darker lens that came with...very gingerly take my bare finger to wipe/disperse condensation. No fingernail came close. Yep, marred that lens. $275 for this? I’ve got $55 Suncloud sunglasses I wear all the time and over the years used paper towels, T-shirts, socks to wipe them off because they’re durable and don’t scratch easily at all. If I were Smith I’d be ashamed. I’m taking goggles back to shop where I bought them. Already called them and said they shouldn’t sell these overpriced lame excuse for a goggle. And I am easy to please, never complain, take responsibility when I break something due to accident or whatever. Not chronic malcontent at all. Be forewarned. Look at these things and they scratch. Buy some other brand.

Nice Goggles
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:
- True to size
Got these to combine separate low light/everyday goggles to one. I wish the swap was just a little easier. It only take a few seconds but if you are doing it on the lift you are taking your gloves off. I found that I could not wear my glasses with these and had to get RX prescription inserts but the combination is good. So far I have only used the Everyday Violet Mirror Lens. It was great on sunny day with shadows being cast on the runs. Riding up the chair lift was to bright and might opt for the full sun lenses if I am skiing with the sun in my line of sight. Be Careful stretching these over the back of your helmet. I have personally witnessed a failure on the plastic strap attachment to the goggle.

Solid Googles

I really enjoyed these googles! I will say changing the lenses takes some getting used to but you will find your self switching them out with ease before you know it. These googles fit great with every helmet i have used them with. I have not run into any issues with fogging either. all around a great product!

Stylish Goggles
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I've been using the I/O goggle for a couple years and I just got the chance to try out the I/O Mag and at first I hated them, but they grew on me. Switching lenses took some getting used to. It kind of feels like they are going to break when you do it the first time, but once i got the hang of it I was able to do it in seconds. I never dealt with any fogging and the Chromapop lenses are the best.

Completely Disappointed
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I bought these goggles as a birthday gift for my bf, and they didn’t even last half the season. He had issues with them fogging up from early on, which was frustrating to begin with, then one day riding the lift without even touching them heard a “pop” sound as they fell to his lap. The small plastic piece that attaches the strap to the goggle broke off. The quality should be much better given the price point. Zero stars.

Killer platform with quicker lens change
The IO series goggles have been a staple in the ski industry for quite some time now. The mag series makes swapping lenses even quicker, and all of the other features we love are still there. Wide peripheral vision, comfortable foam with good airflow, and high quality low light lenses are all standard features. People with larger faces might prefer the IOX model, which has a bigger frame.

Great Lens, hard to change!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I really enjoyed the fit and size of these goggles. I typically wear medium sized goggle but I am a small woman! I really did enjoy the entire feel of these goggles. I never fogged them once and they seemed pretty resilient to scratches compared to some of my other goggles! The only issue I really had with these was the locking mechnism to change the lens. I couldn't get around to change the lens without actually touching the lens and I don't really like that. I had to carefully wipe away my fingerprints from the corner edge after changing out the lens. Maybe it was just a personal issue on how I was swapping them out but I will most likely stick with my Anon WM1 so I can swap out my lenses without touching the front of them!

Serious design flaw
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I love Smith goggles...have had many pairs over the years. My biggest issue has always been changing the lenses. My IO7's are super annoying when it comes to swapping out lenses. Other manufacturers have figured this challenge out, and I was excited when Smith came out with the IOMag. I like everything about this goggle except for 1 critical flaw, and that is the plastic swivel where the strap connects to the goggle. I broke 2 separate pairs of goggles in the same exact place: the plastic cracked and broke off where the pivot point of the strap meets the goggle base. I wish I could explain this better...but...it appears to be a very weak design, especially when this plastic gets cold. I want to love these, but am now returning my 2nd pair. Smith Warranty will only allow me a $240 "credit" that is good for 1 year. Not super helpful now that I've already replaced the Mag's, and lord knows I don't need another pair of sunglasses. Absolutely cannot recommend these unless they change the design. I've seen plenty of other reviews on other sites of people having the exact same issue.

This was part of a gift and here are their remarks: I went with these goggles to have additional lenses for different times of day and riding conditions with an easy way to adjust. I have not had any issues and the lenses are super clear and comfortable during riding.

Two lenses sold me
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I was an Oakley guy forever, and my old goggles were getting worn out and scratched. Time for new ones. I like clarity, I like the idea of two lenses, and Smith's Chromapop lenses had a lot of hype, so I took the leap. I find these goggles don't cover as much of my face as I would like. On cold days, I really feel it more than I did with my old A Frames. Also, my googles took a while form to my face, leaving a gap between my nose and the nose piece--that's the hazard of buying things on the internet. On the other hand, I like the storm lens and the darker sun lens, and I would have to buy two sets of goggles from Oakley. I like, but if I had to do it over again I'd probably go back to Oakleys.

If they covered more of your face chances are they wouldn't fit with a Smith helmet
