We like the Smartloft 60 Hybrid 1/2-Zip top for its utility we can use on nearly any cold-weather activity. Smartwool uses a mix of merino and synthetic fibers in both its shell and insulation. What this does is give us optimal breathability, loads of moisture-wicking, warmth even if it gets wet, and the added bonus of resisting bad odors. What else could we ask for?

Base or Standalone? How About Both?

Pleasantly surprised with the fit and performance of this piece. Hybrids are often puffy in weird places and thin in others--not this. Quality from Smartwool not a surprise, and this top is up to the standard. Good, athletic/trim fit without being too snug. I was expecting the non-quilted material to be more base-layer thin and really happy that it's thicker with a bit of interior fleece-type nap to the surface. I would say roughly comparable to Icebreaker 150/200 if you are familiar with that offering. Intended to use as a base layer while skiing but I'm likely to wear it as much as a regular shirt. I also appreciate that the quilted part of the half zip isn't too puffy or bulky. Adds some nice texture and warmth but not bulk. Quilting serves to cut the wind very effectively.

This is the most expensive shirt I?ve ever purchased. And it was on sale. But totally worth it. Wow! I Love everything about it. Just not the price.

90% of a perfect pullover
Love the quality and the design! Wish it was just a little more tapered for a slim fit.

I would not buy this product again.
Nice pullover but has an odd cut to it in the upper body. I returned it due to the odd fit. I think that the price is too high for the product.

wish it had pockets
Love the design, nice layer for added warmth. I'm a woman (5'8, 125lbs) and ordered the small. It fit well, if not a bit narrow. I would absolutely keep it, if it had pockets, even just a kangaroo pouch in the front.

Dude Says...
I recently remembered how awesome wool actually is. Antimicrobial, odor resistant, natural, ethical non-mulesing. I mean, when nature gives you something perfectly suited for what you're looking for, then why look elsewhere. This addition to your kit is tough. It's durable. And it's effective. The modern design of this piece is also as great in the office as it is hiking the winter mountain. When you find the bullseye, why aim anywhere else? After I bought one for myself I was so impressed that I bought another one for my brother right away. Thanks, Smartwool. Well done.
