    Night skiing, anyone?

Unless you've completely blocked it from your memory, you might remember your very first time on skis and the way you felt when you withdrew your cold, clammy foot from a frozen, bunched cotton sock after a long day spent careening repeatedly down the hill. Now that you've moved past the braking wedge and the bunny hill, hopefully your sock collection has grown up with you. The SmartWool PhD Ski Ultra Light Sock gives you maximum warmth without the bulk, and its Indestructawool yarns promise to wrap around your feet with a durability that seems impossible considering their soft, stretchy feel. The breathable mesh venting and supportive fit should all but erase that horrible wet-cotton feeling you've managed to repress for all of these years.

    The best ski socks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These things are amazing for a performance fit ski boot, they will help keep you friction free and help prevent pressure points that can happen from thicker socks.

    Merino Wool FTW

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Snug fit, warm and durable. The merino wool absorbs odor caused by bacteria, trapping the smell and keeping it from building up so the stench is bearable when you take off your boots after a solid day.

    Thin and high performance

I'm a huge fan of Smartwool socks and wear them almost daily. The Smartwool PHD Ultra Light ski sock is perfect for wearing with tighter fitting boots or for summer hiking. Like all Smartwool socks, these are durable for how thin they are, breath very well and are comfortable.

I prefer size XL even though I'm a size 11.5-12 which is right on the edge of L and XL. I really dislike cramped toes.

      Medium weight

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A great warm durable sock. These are perfect for a boot that is a bit packed out. I would say they are medium weight. I can definitely tell the difference when i compare these vs a lighter weight sock.

      The BEST!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Every year I seem to be purchasing more and more Smartwool products. This has been my sock of choice for six seasons, and I only own four pairs! They're warm, thin, and they last for hundreds of days riding.

      Thinner the better!

As someone who runs boots as tight as possible, these are the thinnest and best sock for the job! However, I’m lucky if I can get a full season out of them. I think darn tough is a much more durable but with that comes a slightly thicker sock. I’ve picked up two pairs the past two seasons and plan on doing the same next year.

        New Boots? Buy these.

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After getting some new boots for the season, I knew that w needed some thin socks for the molding and break in period. I've worn these a ton this season and am super satisfied with my purchase. Socks are a game changer for the fit and comfort if boots. Get these and you'll know what im talking about.

        The Best!

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These are the only ski socks you will ever need. I wear these touring, cross country and downhill and they are perfect for all three. Super fast drying, really comfortable and don't wrinkle anywhere.

        Perfect for backcountry skiing!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This sock is a must for those long days in ski boots. I was having an issue getting blisters during tours, but with these socks, it's now an non-issue. Must have!

        What socks?

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are one of my favorite pairs of socks to wear while riding. Super low profile and light weight so you don't feel any bulk in your boots. Merino wool helps limit odor and wick moisture throughout the day.

        Great socks

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had many pairs of these over the years and I love them. The low volume is great for my and my smaller ski boots. Since they are wool they do a great job at keeping your feet dry. Check them out if you want a nice new pair of socks or have a low volume ski boot!

        Can't go wrong.

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just picked up these socks and absolutely dig them. I usually get really hot feet no matter the conditions and these guys actually weren't steaming for once when I took my feet out of my boots. I think they could have more cotton in them - anticipating the smell after two days of riding.

        The Only Ski Sock

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the only ski sock you should ever buy. I have 2 pairs and I will never buy anything else. I typically get really cold feet, and either I'm getting warmer or these socks are just really good a regulated my temperature better than anything I've ever put on my feet. I love these socks and have bought them for all of my friends too, they are just as stoked about them! Best sock ever!

        Perfect Skiing Sock

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought 2 pair to try them out as i've never owned a pair of skiing socks. Loved them so much that i bought 2 more pair. While they are pretty thin, they manage to be warm at the same time. Can't go wrong with Smartwool!

        Dr. comfort

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Ski socks may be the most underrated piece of gear. These are thin but warm. They make it easy for me to get into my boots - no easy feat (pun intended!). This is my second pair and I will likely buy more!

        New favorite ski sock

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave these to my brother as a gift and he loves how thin and comfortable they are. He said they're his new go-to ski sock.
