SmartWool seamless bikinis are THE WORST

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
Runs large

First off, I am highly devoted to the SmartWool brand, but the company really missed the mark on fit for its seamless bikini panty. I opened the boxes and washed the underwear before wearing so that’s my bad. I never expected a refund, but what to do with FIVE pairs of these bikinis that instantly turn into thongs after walking a few steps What to do? I altered them taking two inches out of the narrow crotch. So far they fit great sitting on the sofa, but I’m an equestrian and wilth see how things go in the saddle. Its not a size issue as other SmartWool bikinis fit perfectly. It’s an issue with the cut

I couldn't agree with the poster above. These underwear bikinis are The WORST. They move all over the place. So annoying. I can't even wear them in my house to walk around without them turning into thongs. The previous bikini, the PhD was GREAT. It never moved no matter what activity you were doing. Why did they have to change something that was so good?

Agree! Terrible fit!

Great moisture wicking. I ordered a size up based on other reviews (XL) and I'm glad I did. They looked super small when they arrived but they are pretty stretchy so they fit well. The material is a bit thicker than the 150 bikini which I also ordered. They might be a bit warm for summer. The fit seems more comfortable than the 150 bikini though.

Very pleased with these undies. Hate skimpy coverage or bottoms that ride up. These stay in place and cover my (substantial) rear end. Generally wear M in underpants but L fit in these. And, they dont get nearly as stinky as the nylon shorts or trekking pants I wear over them! (5'4, 148#, 8-10pant, curvy)

These didn’t stay put on me at all. Terrible fit and terrible comfort. As soon as you walk they shift all over

In other smartwool undies, with lighter fabric, I am a comfortable XS. (5'2", 108 lbs, 35-inch hips) This fabric is thicker and more compressive, and the XS is tighter and leads to some unattractive bulging. I'm assuming a S will fit, haven't re-ordered in the new size yet. (And might not, rethinking the cost...)

I have been waiting for a new version of Smartwool's Hipster underwear and was hoping these would do the job. (I had been trying to replace my whole underwear drawer with the Smartwool hipster, but they stopped making them). The quality is definitely MUCH higher than the original Hipster and Bikinis, with a thicker stretchier fabric, but the sizing is also MUCH MUCH smaller. I need an XL, so I am out of luck as far as sizing up. Since I do think they're good quality, and I MUCH prefer merino vs synthetic for any and all active uses, I guess I'll just stop eating for the next month and hope they fit after that. If you are a smaller size, I'd say you're in luck, and these would be great for you! The 3 star rating was really for the size, and because until they fit, I can't give a real honest performance review.

Runs way small!

These are very tight. I even ordered a size M and they were on the tight side. They also felt itchier than the Smartwool NTS 150 bikinis. The material is much heavier than the 150 bikinis.

My mom's favorite active briefs. Can't beat the wool for snow camping in wet snow. Keep them on and they are dry in the morning, ready for the next adventure.

I got a small based on how other SmartWool underwear has fit me in the past. It definitely a tighter material that doesn't loose it's shape easily. If I were to reorder I would go for a medium or large to avoid a cut in. The stitching around the right leg hole started unraveling shortly after I purchased it. Pretty disappointed. Because of the fit and quality I usually just save this underwear for laundry days.

Awesome briefs

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This briefs with elastic waistband is super comfy! For my hips 106-108 cm size M fits perfect. I'm really happy. I wore it only few times, so I cant say how durable it is. By the size chart I have to choose size L, but M is perfect.
