Having the 1/4 zip makes it easy to vent when I get overheated yet stay warm when needed when zipped up. I check smartwool every year to see what new patterns they have. I don't really want a plain one

Runs quite small but great construction
I've had these on and off through weight gains and losses, and myriad activities. Pleased to see the plus sizing as these run small and I order 1-2 sizes up to get a roomy fit & esp. a longer length. I wear these everywhere, from hiking and camping to casual work days, and am adding in a couple more to my rotation. Prior to the larger sizing being added, I tried switching to other brands and found they simply aren't as good. They're either thin and scratchy, or the elasticity doesn't last and they sag in a frumpy way. Smartwool is thick, soft and holds its shape.
