Hike Liner Crew Sock
The Smartwool Hiking Liner Crew can be worn as an ultra light sock on warm hikes or as a liner in cold weather. The ribbed cuff keeps it from sliding into your hiking boots or bunching at the bottom of your outer-layer sock. A flat-knit toe seam won't bother your toes while breaking trail. Smartwool designed the Hiking Liner Crew Socks to prevent blistering as well as odor.
- Ultralight hiking sock doubles as liner for cold weather

Perfect comfortable liners
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
These work great as liners under heavy wool socks and alone for days when I need lighter socks. The were comfortable and didn't add too much extra bulk under other socks.

Great liner! Must have item.

I think I love these liners more than any of the merino wool socks I have bought! They seem to make the difference in moisture control. I don’t feel as sweaty with these liners as I do without. Every time I have worn them has been cold and I wind up sweating because of hiking hard through rough terrain. I bought two pair, but will need more. I’m not certain about durability yet. They seem thin, which is good, but not sure how long they will hold up. I have not tried them by themselves yet. Will wait for summer for that. I had very high expectations of these liners, they did not disappoint. Want more!

Perfect Liner Sock
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I picked these up after tearing up my heels during a long ski tour in a lightly padded boot. These things worked wonders- they are thin enough to not be too warm or uncomfortable, and the material slides well against the outer sock. Another excellent product from Smartwool!

I wear a size 9.5 men's shoe and the Large is a perfect fit, this is a light wool sock that I use on it's own rather than a liner, perfect for spring/fall outdoor activities. I own several Smartwool socks always outstanding.

these liners are the perfect sock liners to match with my hiking socks to keep those blister away. They are lightweight and dry quick. I wear them summer or winter when out hiking and my feet never overheat or get too cold. The wool help with the foot stink too. I take two pair for a 7 day trip in the woods. They dry quick after a quick wash.

I don't like most hiking socks because of how thick they are, these are the perfect thickness for me and I really like the length. These are my favorite hiking/climbing socks yet . Liner? Not for me, they are just a great stand alone sock.

I've been using SmartWool liner socks since I first took up backpacking in 2008. I still have some of my original pairs, but they've been on enough trips that I'm needing to start phasing in new pairs. These socks have never prevented all blistering on my feet, but they have definitely kept blisters to a minimum--especially appreciated on multinight trips. I wouldn't go on a backpacking trip without 'em!

I had some issues with my double mountaineering boots and blisters. I hardly ever have blisters with new boots, but these for some reason didn't agree with my heels. I bought these and wore them under my normal socks and instantly had no issues with blisters at all! I would definitely recommend these to anyone with blister issues!

Travis, this is helpful! I just got back from a Mt Baker climb... pretty bad blistering in my double boots on the descent. I don't normally use liners, but want to give them a try on Mt Rainier next month. You said L fits true to size... what size are your feet?

To be fair, I popped tags off these guys on my way to hike up Mt. Olympus in 100 degree heat. I'm not sure what about the sock caused so much rubbing, but I'm nearly sure it wasn't caused by my shoes. I will definitely give them another shot after putting through a cycle in the wash.

Seem good so far. I have tried them on underneath my smartwool heavy trekking socks and they seem to add minimal extra bulk. I don't think they will cause problems getting my boots on. Feel and thickness is comparable to a dress sock.

Do liners shrink as it's made from wool? Generally, warm wash/dry. Size 11.5 is on high Lg size but if shrinks, may consider XL. Thanks!

Smartwool intends for this to be a unisex sock and I have seen both men and women buy them.

Yes, generally, a women's size 'L' would be equivalent to a men's size 'S', and so on...no real difference otherwise, (besides colors/designs ie (butterflies and daisys' and such, for example...but then, you never know!).

These would be a good start for keeping your feet warm. The main advantage of a liner sock is that you can take the liner off when your feet start to get sweaty...preventing them from chilling you out later. Maybe even bring another pair of liner socks in a pocket to switch out.
Debbie C

And again, wear wool hiking socks, not cotton, as cotton stays wet, ...and then you will really get chilled. This holds true for base layers for winter as well. Go with a hi-tech base layer such as Gore, just for example; or a wool base layer.

Funny you ask, I have worn these as dress socks. It's nice because they have a lot of cushion and are much more comfortable than thin dress socks. I don't wear dress shoes that often, but when I do, I always put on dark Smartwool socks.

Would these sock liners be good for wearing under a thicker pair of socks when I'm going skiing? My extremeties really feel the cold when I'm in the snow

Wicking moisture is the primary purpose of a sock liner. These would work better for skiing than hiking as long as they stayed dry. You would certainly gain extra warmth over a polypro or silk liner.
