    Light weight. Heavy duty.

Why fish in some heavy, gargantuan clodhopper of a wading boot when you can be comfortable in the Simms Women's Vapor Boot instead? In the Vapor, Simms proves that durable doesn't have to mean heavy. A women-specific fit and hiker-inspired design lets you get to the fish in speedy comfort, while the minimalist construction allows you to feel the river bottom for secure footing.

Simms built this puppy on its lightweight VaporTread platform, which means the boot is just as good for that mile-long trek to the river as it is for wading in the river. The Vapor sports a synthetic leather, textile, and scratch rubber upper that puts up with abuse, and the partial neoprene interior adds warmth and cushioning.

    Great lightweight Wading boots

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love my Simms Vapor Boots-They are super light , easy to walk in and super grippy. I paired mine with the Simms G3 Waders and its a match made in heaven. Definitely recommend for all ladies looking a solid wading boot.

    Great Grip

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got these as a gift for my much more badass (flyfishing) friend and this is what she had to say:

These boots are light and have excellent grip. I was able to stand on slippery rocks with no slippage. I typically wear a 6.5 and originally ordered these boots in 7. They ended up being too big so I downsized to a 6, which fit well. I wanted to be able to wear them with waders and also with neoprene socks when I am not wearing waders on hot Utah days. They are lightweight and almost feel like wearing a hiking boot, much less bulky than my previous pair.

    Awesome Boots for the lady

These are light weight and grippy. Travel great in the backcountry when your trying to get away from the crowds! My wife really likes them, nice color too.

Happy wife good day fly fishing

I bought the Simms Vapor Tread Boot for my wife as a gift and paired them with the Patagonia Spring Rivers which results in fly fishing gear magic for my wife. She really liked how light weight the boots feel and how easy the walk to and from the river is given the hiking boot style construction. She is a beginner fly fisherwoman and she had no trouble navigating the rive at various depths and through various water speeds. Better said, the grip was great and she had no issues slipping

    A dream in the water

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Like Happy Fly Gal, I am new to fly fishing and wanted boots and waders I could feel confident in and that were also flattering to the female form. I thoroughly researched all different brands and models of women's apparel, and finally settled on Simms. I purchased the Simms Freestone waders (size M) and the Simms Vapor Boots (size 9). I normally fit perfectly into a size 8.5 shoe. In my local fly shop, I was able to try on a variety of sizes. In straight stockingfeet, the size 8 felt good, though roomy. With the waders in size S (6-7 foot), the 8 felt like a good fit, but the neoprene of the wader booties was a bit too tight. Moving up to the waders in a size M (8-9 foot), the 8 boots were definitely too snug. The size 9 boots fit quite well with the M waders (though very large with just stockingfeet, so they are definitely not able to be used as hikers without the waders). While light weight, they are clunkier on dry land than hiking boots (they're rather wide), but are a dream in the water. The Vibram soles provide great traction, and my footing always feels secure. The gravel guard loop is in the perfect location for the hook on the Freestone waders, and when combined, my feet stayed nice and dry. They are easy to get in and out of, and thought they take quite a bit of time to dry completely, they don't drip water after you take them off, so you can easily store them in a vented bag for travel. To top it all off, the color combination is rather flattering, especially when combined with the Freestone waders. Trying them on in the shop even persuaded other female shoppers to invest in a pair!

I am new to fly fly fishing and the equipment and wanted to find a pair of wading boots that didn't feel humongous on me and allowed me to have a better feel for the terrain I was walking on above and under the water. I received these boots and have worn them 3 times and LOVE them! They fit my feet nicely, I normally wear an 8.5 to 9 shoe and bought these in a size 10. The first time wearing them they seemed to have loosened up some by the time I left the river but that may have been from not tying them snug enough. I didn't notice this the past times I wore them. The last 3 times I have worn them, they have been comfortable, dry and easy to maneuver in (as sometimes my balance gets thrown off in the river, rocks, sand, etc.) I definitely felt more confident wading in these boots. They feel almost like a hiking boot. They were easy and light weight for the walk to the river and my feet stayed dry. They were much easier to get my foot into and out of than the first pair of boots I had, much easier to lace up and tie (for some reason). I haven't put them through the ringer just yet, but will. I absolutely LOVE these boots and for me, they were well worth the extra money!!

    Unanswered Question

My wife wears a size 6.5. Most of our wading will be done in warm months so with the neoprene socks of the waders she will probably only need normal socks. Should she get a size 7 in this boot or a size 8?
